This is actual hell now, and planes are unusable. Basically every single bot will target you with extreme precision BEFORE THEY EVEN APPEAR MARKED. I got sniped from 7km+ by a bot, and like every single bot and AI gunner on the map targeted me, and mind you, this was a 2.0 coastal battle, and there was a wall of lead from like a 160 degree cone the moment i spawned.
Also, i am highly confident that player vehicle AI gunners got a significant buff to accuracy. Main guns and AA hits much more frequently before, despite me using the same vehicles and without accuracy upgrades.
Now, that begs the question, how the actual flying FUCK do you use cas in naval battles when every single AI gunner on the map is shooting at you with godlike accuracy. This is basically like spawning on the sides of enemy airfield AA a few kilometers away, yet they still shoot you from afar, have godlike accuracy, stripped away most airfield, and have like 10x the volume of fire, including machine gun, autocannon, and even main gun fire of all things, which im pretty sure sniped me in a SU-2 from 7km+ away… from a Ha-go…
anyways is naval finally done and just a good sl grinder atp, and is there still a way to use cas without diving to the deck and getting 2 kills before getting obliterated by 600 machine gun and autocannon rounds and a 75mm shot from a random ass bot pc451 halfway across the map
Wait till others are in, let them die, climb up with bombsight planes. Dive Right above the ship, and pull up before 500m to make it harder to hit you.
I mean, we should add something that World of Warships did. So they have this system where there is a range for short (machine guns and 20mm) medium (25mm-40mm) and long (Flak guns, etc) AA guns. So the short range guns start firing when the plane comes within 2 kilometers, and the mediums start at 3-4 kilometers depending on the gun. The Flak guns fire as soon as they detect the plane. There is also something called plane detection range in which the plane is not shot at until the gunners actually notice the plane.
That’s a World of Warships ship. (its a paper ships but that’s not the point). The smaller guns have a range of 3.5 Km and 5.8 depending on the gun. So if we were to put this into the game, it would be easier for planes to not get pilot sniped at 9km. They also have something called hit probability in which is simply how accurate the AA is. Most ships in that game have a hit probability of 70-ish %, meaning that about 30% of the shells will miss.
i think thats kind of a thing already against small boats, where machine guns/autocannons dont open fire until they get into a certain range of them but thats about it. CAS in naval is a absolute nightmare for ships in the right circumstances, but other times they just start a lightshow when they spawn, get within 2km of a ship, and just fucking die from a random ass AI gunner 3km away behind a island.
Every. fucking. single. ship. will fire at you. In WOWs, at least you get multiple aircraft im pretty sure and its basically just the ship your attacking firing at you, unless you attack a group, but here, you get shot from EVERY single ship on the map at ANY range with EVERY single gun
Yeah, I mean that was the point of the AA cruisers like the Fargo-class, and if they are together, history a single plane would be eliminated easily. That was the point of planes traveling as squadrons, and that’s not in WT. We should make the AA more inaccurate and less capable so that it, although not as historical accurate, will make the game-play better. Also, I suggest not playing Naval at the first place, since it is much more efficient to use CAS in GRB/GAB.
Considering every other match is populated by at least 4 AI bots, spawning CAS is riskier than ever if not completely pointless. They were already ridiculously accurate against planes. Now they’re almost as accurate against ships too. The best you can hope for is to get one kill or so by kamikazeing yourself against the enemy.
That’s what Japan did–But don’t worry. I mean as a result of Naval not making enough money (I mean who buys premium ships when you can’t even use them in a proper battle?), they are often neglected, only getting a few premium ships and more AIs. We should make AI gunners on ships worse so that plane can live for at least a few bombing runs.
