I am currently putting together a bug report on the AGM-45A-10 and AGM-45B-10. Currently in game, they are only modeled as being able to track E, F, and G bands. But IRL, they are also able to track H and I bands. I found an F4-E weapons delivery manual which you can find here (T.O. 1F-4E-34-1-1 - Aircrew Weapons Delivery Manual (Nonnuclear) - F-4E (15-12-1986)). In that, the section on the delivery of the AGM-45 does not go into detail on the AGM-45 itself. Instead, it says to reference 1F-4C-34-1-2-1 for more details on the Shrike. But I cannot find that document anywhere online, except for this website which says they have it, but I need to request a quote, meaning I would have to pay to see it, and I do not want to do that. Because of its nearly complete absence from the internet, I believe it might also still be classified, meaning I cannot use it for a bug report anyways, and that website likely won’t even give it to me to begin with. So that means I need to find another source. I am trying to find a primary source since you only need one of those but I cannot find another one. I found this secondary source but this is the only one I could find that actually contains information on the seeker’s ability (aside from wikipedia), and I would need 2 secondary sources. So how do you go about finding reliable sources?
One way or another—you pay to access those documents, which is something that isn’t uncommon, what I mean you’re paying for a license to own a copy of that document. To use this as source to report I think you’re limited to only quotes for personal license. Commercial license should be more expensive and not even be available in first place. Wikipedia as well handles good sources, I also suggest checking other languages which could contain more useful information. Wikipedia itself isn’t a source but it handles, cites and link sources for further information, blogs is another way to gather information, like Tankograd and Andrei BTVT’s contains useful information on tanks (for example), also you can contact people, organizations and companies via E-mail or any other form of contact to get those information you need that are declassified, which naturally would take longer.
Unfortunately, the only source connected to the -10 seeker on the wikipedia page is a super blurry picture of some display. You can’t even read 90% of the words on it.
Well I went ahead and sent a request for quote on that website, so I’ll see how it goes from there
imma be real, I go to Chatgpt or grok and tell me to find documents on X thing I need documents on
