i made a sight in wt draw but when i put it into usersight folder it doesnt appear in game
Did you reload the game? or try Alt-F9 I think refreshes the sight list
i restarted it alot
is it necesarry fopr the files to be blk
All my sights are, so I assume so. I just have downloaded ones though, I have never tried to make one from scratch
how do i convert it
The guy typing now will know better than me, I use funnel sights based of his work.
IIRC there must be no space in the file name. So somethingsomethin2.blk works, but somethingsomethin 2.blk not.
Also, make sure the sight is configured for your tank, either the exact variant of the tank, or tank class.
See here for a good guideline: User-made sighting reticles | War Thunder Wiki
my file isnt a blk

Hehe thanks! Glad you guys ‘out there’ use it!
I have to admit though that I haven’t done any new sights since before the new method configuring sights in the game has been implemented a few patches back, but mine still work.
Stupidly - and I still could beat me up for it - I have somehow deleted all my very extensive and complicated excel-worksheet that I used to create my funnel sights, and so far have not managed to put it back together…
Just change the file-ending from .txt to .blk, that might do the trick.
If not, there may also be some error within the file itself. Just a misplaced coma can really ruin your day…

like thus?
Exactly! = )
One thing bothers me about ingame custom sights is that sometimes they switch to default one despite settings shows its the opposite.
Somehow Gaijin still couldn’t figure it out what causing this issue.

i cant find it still
Pff, what’s also bad is that what you see when you select the sight is not how the sight actually looks in the game itself.
And the way the sights are coded is very strange from the beginning: The horizontal position of ballistic scales is dependent on a) a variable that you enter and b) the font size of the sight. So if you change text size, your whole sight looks different afterwards…
Can you copy here the top 10, 20 lines of the sight file, and let me know for what vehicle it’s supposed to work?
I think the error may be in the section where you define for what vehicle(s) the sight is configured…
Something like this:
