I have that thing since it came out and i still cant figure out how to play it.
The missiles cant lock drones or helis, can only lock Jets from 1km in front aspect and you only have 4 and all that at 10.3 where you have something like an OSA or a roland in your team.
It is just in every aspect worse then a strela and ozelot.
How does it make sense at 10.3??
i really don’t and nobody knows by the looks
It’s an SPAA which relies heavily on surprise. Hide somewhere and launch at enemies when they fly past. Due to the good maneuverability, the missile is great at close range rear-aspect launches. Also, the base value for head-on lock against afterburning targets is 6km, so you reliably can hit enemies front-aspect if they are afterburning.
You have a total of 8 missiles due to the magical ammunition boxes. Generally wait 1-2 seconds after lock to launch, because the missile frequently loses lock even in ideal conditions for whatever reason. Not just unlocking, but drifting away from the target, completely losing it, etc. Make sure the missile’s actually tracking before you launch.
Most of your launches are going to be side or rear aspect. If a non-afterburning plane is coming towards your location, don’t even bother trying to launch a missile from front aspect (unless it is going straight for you specifically), just preemptively turn your turret 180 degrees to prepare for a rear aspect launch. Do use the . massive uncaged seeker angles to the best of its potential, it’s one of the few redeeming factors of the SPAA. The missile has great maneuverability, but is scarcely fast, so temper your expectations and avoid long range direct rear aspect launches.
Lastly, if you see a helicopter or a strike drone, just hide. You won’t be getting a lock until ~1.5km, and you won’t be able to lock the missiles in most conditions either. Just hope someone on your team spawns an actual competent SPAA.
but then why is it at 10.3? is it not just worse then stuff like the strela
