How do i get a # in my gamertag

Hello, I was wondering if any of you guys know how i can get my own gamertag example i want to change my gamertag to DrillSergeant#2 but it won’t work for some reason. Thank You!

Did you pay for the name change, or use your free name change? Or is this an issue with putting the # sign?

It looks like the # is not allowed:

Only the underscore, hyphen and spaces are the allowed non-alphanumeric characters.

At the bottom of the support page regarding changing nicknames (gamertag) there is this point:

If there is already another existing user with such nickname, then a symbol # and a number will be added to your game nickname.
