I have the Missile / Fire from Special Guns on Q Keybind but whenever an Enemy Jet or Helicopter is using Flares i cannot fire my Missiles at them. Usually i can just press the Missile Keybind and it locks on Enemy showing one Red Ring around him and then i can fire but when they use Flares it shows two red Rings and i cannot even fire my Missiles and when i press the the Lock Radar / IRST Target with MB5 it often kinda ‘spazzsm’ out when they fire Missiles and Flares
And even after Flares are gone it keeps the two red Rings for so long where i cannot fire and doesn’t go away, even when i pull in the whole Radar Dish with Alt+R it keeps on the lock but cannot fire, i always have to wait for it to go away on its own
I also noticed a lot of the whole Anti Air relevant Keybinds aren’t even set by default, i never really played Anti Air before only some low-mid BR with no Missiles etc in Arcade but now that i got the CS/SA5 i wanted to do some Anti Air Action and usually works but only when Enemy isn’t using Flares or the likes, sometimes when they fire Missiles it also just locks onto the Missile or Bomb instead of the Jet and if im not killing the Jet/Heli instantly once they spawn im dead
No. This has to do with the fact it uses DL to guide the missile. It shows how strong the lock on target is, that is, how sure the launch is.
And yes, it seems to reuse ARH way of doing things, so it means the same thing.
The description says the Missile has IR + IOG + DL Guidance. No idea what any of that means tho lol
But how do i prevent my Missiles from glitching to the wrong type of Seeker then? When i seen an Jet / Heli what i do is press ‘Q’ the Missile Keybind, then it starts that searching with the green Circle - when im on an Enemy it turns into one red Ring and i can fire. But when the Enemy uses Flares (or Chaff) it shows two red Rings - and i cannot fire…
I did wonder if it was to do with the datalink, but I don’t have any DL/IR missiles to test with, plus he mentions that he turned the radar off and it still wouldn’t fire, maybe its different for the IR missiles but the ARH missiles shut off the datalink when the radar is off.
IR is infrared, the seeker type
IOG is inertial onboard guidance which allows the missile to continue on an intercept with its target last known trajectory if it loses external guidance
DL is datalink that allows your vehicles radar to send course corrections to the missile.
So when you shoot you missile from long range, 1st your radar guides the missile at the target by sending its position, speed and heading to the missile via data link, if the radar loses lock or is destroyed the missile will continue on an intercept based on the targets last known location and heading using IOG. once the missile is close enough it will lock on with its own seeker, IOG is useful in that stage too, because if the plane flies behind a building or hill the IOG will keep the missile on an intercept until the seeker can require it (assuming it doesn’t change course enough to get out of the seekers FOV).
I’m only speculating that’s what’s as I don’t have and DL/IR missiles to test with.as @DevilO6 said, that might just be how that vehicle works and the issue is something else.
All you can really do is run a file verification to make sure nothing is wrong on you end. If it still happens bug report it. there are a bunch of reports for CS/SA not firing, but I couldn’t find any that mention the seeker lock icon changing.
You could also try tagging in one of the tech mods on here, they should have a far better understanding of how it should be working and how to troubleshoot it
