AB and RB lower tiers up to rank 4
I can’t seem to get all my shells to do consistent heavy damage like the pounding I suffer from other players in similar ships with the same caliber. I have watched recent vid’s since the aiming patch to get a hang of Naval Aiming. I think mine is pretty good, I hit the target consistently, but don’t do much damage. I figured out that I hit harder if I am going slower and even in AB leading works to degree.
I use HE to light them up then SAP to hit them hard, but at the end of the battle I am last on the list.
Since there is no Main Gun accuracy skill is it all down to the overall skill of the crew?
Unless it is large HE on light ships, dont main it.
Use the SAP and decide if you want to go for crew or ammo.
Ammo is straight forward.
For crew, aim for engines and transmissions. They hold a lot of crew.
Crew strat work better for destroyers and light cruisers and ammo works better for heavier ships.
Actually I think I figured it out.
Nothing to do with my ships, the ammo or skill.
All about latency, connection, packet loss and ping.
I am eternally grateful to those that have responded to my posts in the past and now, but my connection is rubbish and while it remains that way I will never get the accuracy of others nor be able to compete on an even footing.
Luckily I didn’t spend real cash trying to figure this out. I was just about to, but it would be seriously wasted.
PL certainly matters, but ping much less so - I play with a minimum of 200 ping in all games, all modes, and am capable of playing reasonably with that - I lose in a instantaneous head on (like when coming around a corner in a tank), but otherwise it’s not really a problem
Totally agree for Tanks, or at least the lower levels I have tried anyway.
For naval the hit calculation is based on travel time which in the mid tiers can be over 15 seconds. My ping is under 145, latency over 15ms - PL is the killer in Naval. If the packet loss is 0 then I hit things. Anything above that and I don’t. One in 20 games is absolutely brilliant, smashing them like I normally get smashed. The other 19 are horrific missed shots.
Realistic is even worse, the aiming reticle skips all over the place even with distance correction and the aiming marker. In Coastal it is a nightmare of madness where locking onto a target is worse than free shooting because the aiming marker does not represent where the shots will fall. (Coastal would be more like tanks given the short shell travel distance, AB is bearable, RB is horrific).
