F-5s no matter the version they are always there, and they will kill you. If I see one heading to me I just J-out, since I know i cant outrun/out turn it.
So anyway. I’m in my J35D (first mistake honestly), and i see a F-5 and i go “ohno”, and recount that i have never killed a F-5E in my life.
So, forum. What and how can i beat this gremlin of a jet. That i personally class as the same fear as seeing a Maus in my Strv m/40L and not having anywhere to go.
This doesn’t only apply to Swedish jets. There has to be others struggling against this thing right?

Tbh, I kinda struggle against it in the FCU… Probably just a GIANT skill issue. It also is because I’m generally slow at that point and have been overwhelmed…

AFAIK the F-5s all get pretty bricky at low speeds, so you could maybe try to fight it that way. Check DEFYN’s video on any of the F-5s and you might get your answers.

Beside going into low spped at top tier is a death sentence anyway
I have to be honest, IDK. I have never flown the J35D, but I have flown the MiG-21 (MF, SMT, bis) in fighting against the F-5E. What I do against F-5E’s is to only perform high speed passes and never slow down for them, try to surprise attack from unguarded angles or when they are slow (exploiting the F-5E’s main weakness of poor engine thrust at sub-700 km/h speed), but all this is advice I’d apply to any fighting situation and is only possible with ideal position and battle situation.
I also have experience flying the F-5E and it was honestly a super easy stock grind, which just tells how potent of a fighter it is. I know KD isn’t everything but when I was in the process of upgrading I still managed to hold a 2.5/1 KD, it really feels absolutely perfectly suited for its niche in the game’s meta, and there’s almost always something you can pull against an enemy barring a full uptier against competent pilots or just being overwhelmed/in bad position.
I don’t honestly think there are a lot of jets at the same or current BR that can go toe to toe with the F-5E
in a full-rate energy retention fight at least apart from maybe the Chinese J-7E and other F-5Es.
