Two tracked artilleries but beyond that…the AS90 has better manoeuvrability, huge HE, great PF, overall smaller, an actual turret rotation. Meanwhile, the AuF is probably the sluggiest artillery of the tier, aweful ballistic (and oh boy that’s even worse with the PF round), is a gigangtic monster with a turret that could honestly be removed given how slow it is…
I’ll add that the PF round is the exact same one, except it magically goes from 810m/s on the AS90 to 580m/s on the AuF1.
So PLEASE, help me understand. If the AuF1 is worse okay no problem but it has nothing to do at the same BR as the AS90.
AuF1 is 6.7 and AS90 is 7.0. Both are optimal to use the same shell (M107 PF) too. an AMX 30 hull is abour the same mobility wise as an AS90 too iirc. only benefit AS90 has really is the first couple reloads are faster, but slower after ready rack is spent
the compression is really bad with SPHs (far worse than normal tanks) and almost all of them should be a whole BR higher.
bigger question is why the hell is the Palmaria the same BR when its got a OF-40 hull and is better than both overall
shouldnt be too far from each other. 3.5 tons difference for about the same engine power. hp/t is 1.1hp worse on the AUf1. and you have a higher top speed inboth forwards and (more importantly for the french) in reverse
2.4mm more overpressure pen is not much at all, and not worth the trade over proximity fuse to instantly be ready to swat a plane.
only absolute edge AS90 has is gun laying and ready rack reload rate. AS90 only has that for two reloads when the AuF1 has it for 42.
french M107 PF is slower for some reason tho, i dont think thats meant to be the case
the m107 PF on the AuF is weirdly slow, id assume its using a smaller charge because france reasons.
OE155 is still going to delete tanks via overpressure shooting the same spots so its not too big of a deal, its also the same velocity as the post nerf AS90 (i dont know where they got their evidence for 810m/s on AS90 as i cant find any speeds using the charges it does in game, only for later rheinmetal charges that are anachronistic for its current implementation)
there should be a PF fuse for L15 for AS90 and SP155 too. Gaijin seems allergic to native shell options and love slapping generic NATO stock thats not really been used for decades there instead https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/AxyLqh9a24w1
I’m an idiot, it is indeed 6.7 and 7.0, my bad. Anyway, the difference is huge and the fact that the Auf use the AMX-30 seems to be only a theoretical thing, it’s super sluggish and the turret rotation and gun elevation time is insanely poor.
the palmira is close to the auf1, it basically trades reload for muzzle velocity on the he-vt and lower profile, it doesnt get the fancy first stage like on the as90
Marginally, 1 º/s for horizontal and 2 º/s for the vertical, there is much more of a gap when you compared it with the as90 as it gets 10º/s on the vertical over the auf1
That’s true, but it is still a benefit nonetheless. Gun handling on most SPHs in this game are awful, so having slightly better turret elevation and rotation speed is much appreciated.
