Hot take, Falcon doesn't deserve to be neutered

With the falcon sitting at 8.3 which is already a somewhat of an abysmal br. and Britain if I’m being totally honest doesn’t have a good line-up at 8.3 so what is the point of removing the only reason to play Britain up to that high of a BR if you can’t have any fun in it. and unlike the BMPT its not impossible to kill. you look at it at a funny enough angle, and it self implodes. It is one of the few things that Britain gets that resembles any semblance of fun, or hope to keep playing it, Especially for new players. I think it is important to keep people wanting to play minor nations (which id argue Britain is as no one plays it) so its not like anyone sees it often anyway.

If it stays at 8.3, it should keep APDS.

If it loses them, then it should drop to 7.3/7.7.

There is no middle ground here. Staying at 8.3 without them is kinda BS as its a weak SPAAG for the BR if looking purely at its Anti air performance

I think SPAAs should be fit for anti-aircraft duties only and not be unhinged tank destroyers actually

Put it at 7.3-7.7 and remove the APDS, simple really

Can’t wait to see the “AAs should be free loot and unable to defend itself” come out of the wood work.

I didn’t even have time to make the strawman before someone did it for me. It really does amaze me that there are people who don’t grasp that in the current game conventions, SPAA requires the ability to fend off tanks, especially those SPAA that are subpar AA no matter how you slice it. Also y’know, the fact that they’re fielded with these ammunitions to not leave it a sitting duck in a number of cases.

An SPAA like the Falcon does work best in the frontline with no radar. (though it should have some form of target tracking iirc). So being able to fend off tanks is handy

It’s effectively a necessity. Even for the AA that sit at the back, if they can’t deal with flankers they might as well not spawn in. The only ones that get away with it to an extent are those that are so strong at air defense that otherwise there would be very little dealing with it.

Unless they’re inclined to roll out the radar menu to platforms that aim by eye, I don’t really see a resolution to the problem that doesn’t have AA keeping their AP belts.

Personally I think the only question should be if the APDS is historical or not. If it was intended for it, let it stay, if not then remove it.

Vehicles should be balanced around their real world characteristics, if that means an SPAA with great anti-tank capabilities then so be it. Maybe change the class to light tank, the in game classes aren’t really historical anyways (M18 “light tank”, Wiesel 1A4 “SPAA”, etc.)

New players at battle rating 8.3? Specially with a tech tree vehicle? At that point the said “new player” is already very aware of the game’s flaws, mechanics and whatever is needed to properly play a vehicle. Although planned battle rating changes does happen regardless of the community reaction, it is still unconfirmed (that’s why the thread is, was in this case, open to discussion). Falcon got an armor value changes increasing its raw values making it not very reliable to disable front-on with a >12.7 mm machine gun, I guess there was no change at all on the performance, so it’s about time to see if a battle rating change with the armor changes and ammunition removal is needed.

Or more like out of your butt cheeks, not trying to be offensive, but honestly I barely seen this level of opinion, not that mines are great but not Morvran level of takes. At this point of the game every major characterist is changed based on need, how often do you see 100% accurate changes with documents attached to it that Gaijin posts? Sincerly I haven’t see that much.

Hotter take; it’ll barely make a difference, SAP is what makes it so lethal against tanks not really the APDS

I suppose we’ll see how it plays. It is a massive drop in penetration.

I’m more annoyed they didn’t drop the BR so other lineups can now get an effective SPAA.

Any knife fight urban map, SPAA guns systems should be the scariest thing on the map. That’s how reality works historically. Make better maps so tanks can be used correctly with range. This is just a maps are too small problem.

i mean. its gonna go from 110 to 53… it cant side pen a t44

have you tried taking it out with just SAP-I rounds into test drive atleast? it has 53mm of armour pen… it doesn’t do anything…

It still can. 30mm APHE belt was not removed.

I think ALL SPAA should have HE belts only and not be able to deal with tanks at all.

Problem with Falcon that it has more than 4 times more (~180 shells) APDS than most of SPAAs (40 shells)

Having APDS removed and being moved down would be a buff.
Falcon right now is nerfed due to having APDS ruining its BR.

It’s time for its APDS to be removed, and Gaijin to reduce the BR to a good level for SPAA duty.

If Falcon keeps APDS I keep never playing it cause I refuse to play it in its garbage state.

At least if Gaijin screws up and forgets to move it down, it being garbage without APDS means it can lower BR.
But it being garbage with APDS means it was never going to change BR.

Yes:

400m LOL pen on the T-90A. FYI the SAP-I has only 12mm less pen than the 2S6s AP rounds that people complain about at 10.7
