So I think we can ALL agree both the Hornet and Su-33 are coming in late, and with the news that the Su-33 is coming next update, that leaves the Hornet alone in this one.
Here are some things to point out before any annoying troll replies to this.
I’m not mad the US is not getting anything, matter of fact I disagree with the F-15E coming this year, specially in an October/November update. Both the Hornet and Su-33 should’ve come earlier this year.
Eurofighter and Rafale are great and I love both. Germany getting something good and actually playable is amazing and I’ll surely research it.
The main issue is: we really are getting GTA VI before the Hornet at this point. Are they just gonna add the Super Hornet first? Atp we’re better off that way really. Are we getting a Legacy Hornet when things like the Gripen E or even more Eurofighters also get added? Competing against Meteors, IRIS-Ts, ASRAAMS, MICA IRs and so on?
The Hornet could come to the US (obviously), Germany (Swiss sub tree), UK (Australia or Canada), MAYBE Italy (Spain?) and Sweden (Finland). Half the nations in the game could get this plane, yet we really needed the Strike Eagle, Rafale and Typhoon NOW? All that before a single Legacy Hornet?
And just a reminder, it’s a plane from 1987, doesn’t even reach Mach 2, TWR lower than many things in the game right now, mechanical radar (its radar has been in the game for a good while now). Nothing special in its kit. At this point I just want the Hornet in this game, FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING IT. It is late, it wouldn’t even be a good choice if you want something to dominate a match, F-15C and E are better, Rafale and EF will be better. I really need someone to enlighten me with more reasons for why the Hornet isn’t in this game already.
There’s no such thing as “coming in late” with the BR system.
F-15E already had its equivalent added the previous major update: F-15C MSIP II.
F-15C/E/JM/Baz Meshupar/I are getting more equivalents this update too: Typhoon and Rafale minimum.
F-18C couldn’t come earlier really, not with AIM-120s at least.
F-18C’s TWR is extremely similar to F-16C.
I’m kinda happy the Hornet isn’t coming in this update as it means we can have a dedicated Hornet update next year which could allow the full set of nations that could get it, to get it.
Tho that is just me on my last bit of copeuim for the CF-188 for the UK
My fear currently is that when it finally comes to the game, it’s just a not good choice. It’s barely a decent choice NOW, with the Strike Eagle, EF and Rafale around. Quite literally only good for hanging out in customs for aerobatics.
Yeah, the F-18 was never meant to be a frontline fighter. It was always supposed to supplement the F-14, as the F-16 is to the F-15. Unless it’s added with AIM-9X the F-18C is kind of not worth it. The F-14D and maybe the F-18E are pretty much all the USN line can get as far as truly worthwhile additions [for their battleratings] between now and the F-35C.
Hornet is doomed by design to just be kinda mid. Maybe 9X and the SM-6 can save it.
That’s…not true
The F-18 served to fill the gap the F-14 left, that’s true, but said gaps were much wider than simple “frontline fighter”: the F-14 was built solely to dogfight, escort bigger planes and nuke soviet bombers from afar,no CAS or other roles in mind and the upgrade to later variants (A+,B with the subvariants and the D) were always plagued with delays and economical problems. The Hornet was a Jack of all Trades long before the start of the First Gulf War,and each passing year new upgrades to its airframe meant that planes such as the S-2 Vikin or the A-6 Intruder could be retired.
The reason why,as we are speaking, the USN Air Force is made mostly of Super Hornets and Growlers means that its airframe, from the beginning, can deal with any modification without stress (something the Tomcat failed to do due to high maintenance costs)
The F-18C can’t have those. Maybeeeeeee the AIM-9X (i need to find info on that) but the AIM-174B (which is basically the SM-6 but a tad smaller) can’t be integrated into a F-18C because well,it was never tested and never will (the only aircraft that managed to do so is the F-18F,and it’s a completely different aircraft from the F-18C)
guess u dont know how implemenation works then
all those nations used / subtrees or close ones in cse of UK propably getting a canadian or australian one
