That another good question , I have been asking and seem like jap getting CAS soon but I do not agree with adding the T84/VT4

This is a universal problem for a lot of nation , I can’t do anything about it

That the general board for judging a TT. Most of japan plane/tank are solid , sure there are some overtier vehicle but there are also good vehicle as well. No TT is perfect and japan is not perfect but for a minor nation it is good enough. Not to mention it is better than major nation in some department. You can’t have everything , might as well enjoy the part where you are good

Where would they go then? Japan is getting Thailand and Thailand used both. Did France need Leopard 2s? did Sweden need a T-80U or Leopard 2A6? Did Britain need a T-90S? Arguably Japan really needs the T-84 since the shoddy armor modeling on the Type 10 makes it weak to autocannons from the front while the T-84 would give a tank with heavy armor.

I don’t see why bringing other nation in but sure , if you will. But my point is I disagree with the whole T84/VT4. I disagree , not that I am completely against it , cause if they get added at least they make some sense in gameplay and tech tree wise , I am just not really in with the whole thing and people saying japan TT is bad , which it is not.

I disagree.

All indigenous Japanese tanks, which are about all those from about 6.7 - 12.0, force the player into a specific playstyle. One very unique to Japan, Especially once you arrive at the autoloader stages of Japanese ground (Or you really like the ST-A3.). Japanese tanks lack armor, but rampantly make up for it in firepower and maneuverability.

For example, the Type-10.

The Type-10 has great thermals, zoom, maneverability, reload speed, a great round, but next to no armor, along with this it’s kinda gimped (to my understanding) with the turret traverse and energy bleed when turning.
You play the Type-10 by sniping (Which you can do with basically any top tier tank), flanking, or baiting shots and using your superior reload.

The T-84 and VT-4 play the opposite. Although I have not used the VT-4, I assume It’s akin to the T-90M, seeing as they’re both based off the T-72 (IIRC). Which has a basis on sniping, and using its armor to soak up shots like a sponge. It’s main weakness is the reload speed and maneuverability. The exact inverse of the Type-10

I cannot say much about the T-84, but I assume it’s akin to the BVM. Which I’ve used extensively, and most of what I’ve said about the T-90M/VT-4 (in comparison to the Type-10) stands true.

Yes, you could add these to the ground tree, and yes, they would fill the armor checkbox for Japanese tanks. But by doing so you are adding tanks to a lineup which play in the exact opposite way of every other tank in the Japanese top tier lineup.

If these were added at top tier, you would have TKX, TKX(P), Type-10, T-84, VT-4, and some CAS.
Debatably, the best part of Japanese top tier is the TKX, Type-10, and Type-90 spam lineup, having an extensive amount of tanks which play the same, and do insanely well at that playstyle calls to some players. The Oplot and VT-4 would just be weird. Yes, they’re good choices, but it just doesn’t fit into alot of what Japanese players are used to.

Japan doesn’t direly need top tier tanks, The Type-10, TKX and Type-90 lineup is absurd.

I am not against adding the VT-4 and T-84, but I just don’t see a good reason to, other than to please Thai players.

You just use the VT-4 and T-84 in support roles. That’s all you need to do. Most of Japan is quite literally infantry support, artillery to support infantry. So if there are cold war to more modern models that serve in a similar role then just adapt.

It’s interesting that “Add VT4” and “Don’t add VT4” are both caused by nationalist psychology, cause they can’t bear a Chinese vehicle would go to a country have invaded to China and never apologized(you could even saw some Chinese player teamkill F-15J when takeoff), but they believe add VT4 to Japan TT would make VT4A1 be fixed with it(many Chinese player believe Gaijin love Japan)

Thai vehicles do make Japan more fun, for example, the armor of the t84 gives it different gameplay from the type 10. Although the loading of the type 10 is excellent, I still hope that the addition of vehicles like the t84 can enrich players’ gameplay

what I mean is not that Japan’s vehicles are unsatisfactory and need to rely on Thai vehicles to make Japan better, but I believe that with Thai vehicles, Japan can make up for its shortcomings and become a more complete system. the new vehicle will provide players with a better experience (I don’t think the current experience is bad, I mean there is still room for improvement)

When Chinese players angrily shout that VT4 is a work-in-progress, most people will say “save it, it’s good enough”. Well, since everyone thinks so, let’s let more people evaluate it.

The only way Oplot is being added to the game cause USSR can’t get it due to people thinking USSR = Russia, and you oppose Oplot.
VT-4 would be correct as well. No different than Leopard 2A4 or M4 Sherman.

Well t80 models is mostly there. T84 has duplet era(double layer of nozh) which should be comparable to relikt im KE and much better in CE, should have good thermals And then it has a reverse gear.
That is mostly what matters in war thunder. 3bm42 is the best shell it carries as far as i know. If i remember right the ukranians have a modified version of it which performs better but i dont remember right
