HISTORY
In the early 1893 Norway built two patrol vessels, these seems to have been intended to be patroling the Oslofjord. The picture above is taken right outside “Oscarsborg Festning”. The vessels was given the names Patruljebåt 1 and Patruljebåt 2, and both of them recieved a 37mm Hotchkiss revolvercannon with 5 barrels and a firerate variying from 35 to as far up as 68, depending on how fast the shooter can crank it. these were Highly effective weapons during this time, and were effective aginst other naval vessels all the way up to world war two.

One thing we know is that Patrol Boat 1 and 2 were subject to Oscarsborg and Svelvik fortifications during the dissolution of the Norwegian-Swedish union due to there almost breaking out a war between the countries due to disagreements. Also during the First World War they patroled this area.

These two vessels have been incredible hard to find any information about, pictures and the specifications has been easy, but their history is unfortunately more or less forgotten.

This vessel used the Norwegian-Swedish union naval flag for a while due to it being built and used for a while during the Norwegian-Swedish union, exactly when they stopped using that and went over to the pure Norwegian naval flag is uncertain, but most likely after 1905 when the union was dissolved.

Definitions; Riksmaal: Patruljebaad, Newer Norwegian: Patruljebåt, English: Patrol boat/Patrol vessel

In game usage
In game this would either be a reserve, or between 1.0-1.7 in br. It has no armor and will most likely be destroyed by anything that hit the vessel due to it small size and small number of crew. But the cannons are effective and will most likely shred anything it hits of other patrol vessels, torpedoboats and such, anything smaller than destroyers and or other well armored vessels.

The ammunition available are High explosive, Canister amminition and Armor piercing ammunition. I have not been able yet to find the penetrations stats of the cannon but it should be somewhere between 20-50mm possibly even more. Ammunition capastity is unknown but there should be quite a bit available due to the cartrigdes size and how much the cannon’s use when being fired

After playing a lot of naval coastal lately, primarely the low rank and reserve torpedoboats/crafts, i am pretty sure old vessels like this would work.

I also read that the the Hotckiss revolvercannon does have an accurate** range of 1.8 kilometer, not a max range of that. it will reach further to about 4.5 kilometer, but it won’t be accurate

I have tried to find more information abou this patrol vessel, but this is one of the vessels that barely have i formation about them. A frigate from the 1820’s are even more details available of. So stuff like ammunition capasity, i do unfortunately not know about.

The vessel is very small, making it hard to hit, it is not very fast but it is very manouverable, its rate of fire is very high, with experienced crew the firerate can reach as high as 68 rpm (1 shell per 0.8 sec), basically as fast as the operator can manage to crank and dependig on the loader, if he can keep up with feeding the gun cartrigdes, it also has acess to HE, AP and Shrapnel. But it wont survive any incoming fire.

So if played right, i believe this would do very good at lower tier coastal maps
