All hail the Elephant & the Castle the Lord Clive class monitors.
HMS General Wolfe, HMS Lord Clive, as planned HMS Prince Eugene (it would be the third ship in game if added to bear that name, as seen by Prinz Eugen, Eugene di Savoia).
I would hope these monitors get added, maybe in the coastal TT if even goes further than a dumping ground for ocean going frigates.
That does still make me wish we would get the half sister of HMS Glorious (5.7 in game), the HMS Furious which hopefully would be added in the as designed format of two 18"/40 BL Mk. I (niche iirc these guns fired a heavier shell than the 46 cm/45 cannons).
Hmm now come to think of it, just speculation here, but if the Battleship Yamato does indeed come later in the year the HMS Furious would make a good event ship just prior to that update as it would generate hype for such large cannons, than the next update would drop with the Japanese ship.
The Gripen was the most unbalanced top tier plane at its introduction we’ve seen in a very long time. It’s pretty hard to think of anything that was a worse offender, actually. Calling the Typhoon “almost unplayable” is laughable too.
Lmao.
Real books usually use the USN empirical formula, as well as various tables from real tests. And here’s the mystery: some ships, like USA ones, are very close to your numbers, while German ones are underestimated. Meanwhile, the French 330 mm or Soviet 305 mm guns of the Stalingrad class are clearly overestimated.
Naval development and modelling is completely separate from the other modes, and you my friend, do not play naval, because if you did you wouldn’t be complaining about this issue.
That would be because the R&N were ~15 years older laid down in the early 1920’s - Treaty designs using essentially WW1 tech, and the NC’s were late 1930’s designs that had the benefit of not being constrained by any of that.
What would the quintessential british battleship be, even if it wasnt laid down? As most of the ships i know of are old designs and i would like to see what we could have made late war and what was proposed. Would it be the lion class i keep hearing about or is there another that people are overlooking?
Thanks, It may be heretical of me to say but i must. Italian ships do just look better… Was hoping there would be something out there we made that i would fall in love with but nothing compares to the littorio class ships. especially with the turret layout of the king george V with the 4 then 2 combination. just doesnt look right.
First battleship i ever made in from the depths was based on the dunkirque (dont go telling the french this but they make REALLY, REALLY good looking ships).
