I want to open a discussion about game realism and propose a new mechanic.
In real life, top-tier Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) automatically move their guns to a specific loading position after firing. For example, the Leopard 2’s gun elevates by 5 degrees during the reload cycle.
Adding this mechanic to the game would significantly enhance realism. Furthermore, I believe this change would affect gameplay in a positive way. Having the gun elevate during reloading would force players to think differently and develop new tactical approaches during engagements.
What do you think about this? Would you like to see historical loading positions implemented for top-tier tanks, or do you think it would make reloading too complicated in battle?
No,i don’t think war thunder need that
when the gun elevates to a certain degrees, the gunner sight will elevate too,and that will make player lose their view to the target. That seems the only thing will happen, and it’s not positive at all
Exactly. You won’t be able to see your opponent when the gun goes up, that’s true. But that’s kind of the point anyway. Top tier is unnecessarily fast, and everything depends too much on reload times. I think different elements and new factors need to be added to the game.
How about no

We voted allready for the detailed mods and we see how only 1 side is getting them properly…
Still waiting for (Turret Baskets) on T-xx tanks which blocks the turret rotation and the Reload as its kinda build into eachother #Turret Basket #Gun Trunions
I am not sure anyone would want that. If we went full realism the significant change would happen at the aiming level, sights would be have to configured at their actual position rather than at the end of the barrel, just like in sim battles.
The turret basket is a huge problem for NATO vehicles. Also, there’s this ridiculous thing in the game where the Russians always must have a counter-vehicle for every NATO vehicle introduced. But somehow, some innovations still need to come to the game. For example, was the TURM III turret innovation really necessary? Yet, they still added it to the game
Actually, it could change a lot of things. You could tell that the enemy is reloading just by looking at their gun position. You could even shoot the gun of a reloading tank while it’s raised. You would also have to re-aim after every reload, which would bring much more depth to the gameplay. Long story short, it would change a whole lot of things.
