Here’s the ISSUE no one ADDRESSED in WAR THUNDER.
Since the dawn of the world wide web, we are able to connect with people hundreds of miles away all with response at near the speed of light. But there’s a problem— How do you connect people with different culture and language together considering we all have our own identities? In today’s interconnected world, effective cross-cultural communication is essential for personal, business, and diplomatic relations (Smith & Johnson, 2022).
One thing that is often underappreciated until it’s needed; a tool always used by tourists when traveling overseas to a country that speaks an entirely different tongue: a translator.
A translator serves many purpose. But in general? “Translators serve as vital intermediaries in overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among individuals and nations.” (Rabah Cherouana, 2023)
Now, a translator in War Thunder could work client-sided. This is also entirely better than language-based matchmaking which may severely affect queuing time. Communication becomes even more important when something goes wrong. (Zurich Alliance, 2026). Without an effective way of overcoming language barriers, players who does not speak the other language can misunderstood and take it for an insult, be disoriented when surrounded, or just does not know what the other person is saying in general.
It’s also worth mentioning since text chats are different color and can be longer, thus being more attractive than the default radio chat, it can be more effective than spamming map markings by Alt + LMB since players mute the radio chat due to personal reasons such as it being a nuisance. However, the advantage of the attractive text chat is instantly gone if the receiver party does not understand what was being said.
With this, I hope Gaijin Entertainment Ltd. considers the addition of in-chat translator and I hope the player base agrees with an update that only costs less than ~300mb, since this addition can help players connect more with each other.
