I recently got the F-15E and am currently on rank 3 research and, to give you an idea of how its going, my current k/d is 11-53, which isnt very great, so i had a few questions.
is it better to try flying high and slinging 120s, or riding the deck with limits off , turning around after the emrge, and firing from mid altitude
are 120Bs, or 120C-5s better, or are they a trade off with their own advantages on each
any other general advice would be appreciated
currently ive just been trying to space climb and sling 120Bs (less drag), then notch and rtb to do it again, which my 11-53 k-d should show how well thats going
from my understanding, 120C is better at the long ranged shots while 120B is better for most other things
watching videos on how to notch or watching videos of skilled players notching is very helpful. another very nice piece of advice I was told, is to stay below the contrail altitude of about 5700 meters. I can speak from experience, a target above contrail altitude is significantly more noticeable than one below it, since nearly every radar doesnt have the elevation to see you at around 5000m within a certain distance, it makes you stealthier assuming you dont already have a marker
You are a BVR truck, if you try to dogfight any other 14.0, you’ll probably loose. What you have is the joint best climb rate and top speed in game. Use it. Stay fast and ideally stay at medium altitude (20k ft ish).
Bs are a little better in WVR as they have better time to target below 10km, but overall the C5s are probably best beyond 10km. The best strat might be to take both and use which ever is best for the given situation (though im personally too lazy to do that on my aircraft, the Typhoon and just run C5s, for the most part, you wont notice any difference except at longer ranges)
Hopefully the C5s will get buffed eventually
Whilst un-spaded, you’ll probably struggle, and I would focus less on K/D and more on maximising RP gains, take some GBU-39s and sling them at the AI ground targets to bolster potential gains with your A2A fit. After that its just practice. Practice notching missile, practice picking the right targets to fire at and when to remain on the defensive and when to attack.
I would run your full or most of your A2A loadout still, but any spare pylons run the GBU-39s.
The GBU-39s are glide bombs, so best used up high. If you can, sling them off at the AI targets on the ground before the missile exchange begins, just farm a few more kills. I’ve been able to do this without glide bombs, so should be a lot easier with.
I would focus on not dying (as rewards are semi-tied to surviving) and I wouldnt go bombing above all else, but if you can drop some bombs on AI targets and then get a kill or 2 in the air , you’ll come away with more than doing just 1 or the other
Much better to go high. You have more range on your missiles, better overview of the battlefield and more space to avoid missiles (you can notch downwards for example).
120C-5 for high altitude (both target and carrier) high speed launches. 120B for everything else. I would carry 2 C-5 and 6 Bs. Or 2 C-5, 4 Bs and 2 AIM-9Ms.
Don’t dogfight anything. You are going to lose.
Setup full manual controls for your radar so you can switch between targeting low flying in high flying targets easily.
Crank as you are leading your missiles.
Are you dying to ARH missiles in that first portion of the match? Practice your notching. Try pulling a bit more than 90 degrees (as indicated on your RWR).
