I have managed to collect some GE trough events and GJN.
I want to buy a Japaneese premium fighter, but I can’t really decide. The two planes are the Ki-87 and the J2M5 (type 5) with two 30mm guns.
Can you give me some advice which one should I buy?
I strongly recommend to watch DEFYNs vid about the Ki-87 and to use the forum search for the 30 mm cannons in the J2M5 before buying anything…

@Solyom_HUN4 - i hope you watched DEFYN’s vid. As the Ki-94 flies similar: I got it via a crate - a pain to fly, hangar queen.
And regarding the Type 5 cannons - it looks like that they are still affected by the “low damage output” issue. If they would work properly i would see a lot of J2M5s. But i cant remember when i saw last time a J2M5 😉
@LeChance - i am not sure that you have seen that the fellow player is an Air RB player. The Ki-61 is hopelessly overtiered for Air RB and J2M4 is even rarer to see than the J2M5. But the A7M1 is a very good plane for RB, i used to fly the slightly higher TT A7M2 - easy to use, ideal weapon to clap Yak spam…👍

I would recommend either of these two, depending on your playstyle . . you can test fly them to get an idea which you might like better . . .
Oh … . and this one ain’t bad either . . . again, test fly for your own playstyle
They all have the same efficiency thru tier V

alr so, i own a lot of premiums and i say, wait a week, there is a sale soon, if you have the money fo afford the ki-87 rn wait for said sale and get both.
now my recomendations for the japanese tech tree:
p-51C, is a p51c, is a very capable dogfighter, is very fun overall
ki-96, is a decent aircraft if you are experienced with air rb
j2m4 kai is quite good, the guns are good and the flight performance is quite good, it comes back every now and then, i suggest picking it up
j2m5, if you have trigger discipline is quite good
t-2 early, is good, way better than people make it up to be
A7M1 is the one to go for.
The corsair at 3.0 is good too.

To be honest, I haven’t watched any videos about the planes.
But when I realized there is the A7M1, I made my choice. Somehow this plane escapted my attention.
I plan to wait for Gaijin’s birthday event.
