Help me indentify this Ki-61 plane

The picture below shows a Ki-61 variant, but if you look closely on the wing, there is a (gun?) long metal rod attached to it.
I think it’s a gun but that wouldn’t be your standard Ki-61; so what variant could it be?

According to the source the picture might be taken in China after the war, what the source said:

This Ki-61 photo was more likely taken in CHINA after the war.
