Hawker Siddeley P.1154 (Royal Navy): Daddy Sea Harrier

@lxtav could you please rename the P.1154 HS to HS.1154. Hawker Siddeley changed the name after the continued development of it and that the RAF wanted to get it

And what about ballistic computers? Or is most of it just throw and hope it hits?

Both the HS.1154 and P.1154 had ballistic computers and proper HUDs, the HS’s HUD would be like the Jaguar’s and the Harrier I’s HUD but also terrain display (sort of like in the F15E) and the P.1154 would have a radar HUD display similar to the SHar but a bit more archaic

do you have any evidence of this?

all the sources I have seen it refer to it as the P.1154 RN not HS.1154

Im not sure where you keep getting this sort of information from, as I have seen no reference to any of these things in my research (although I may have missed something)

if you have anything that states this I would be massively thankful as it would make the likelihood of this getting added slightly higher

The P.1154 for the RN never changed name. The P.1154 for the RAF was renamed to HS.1154 halfway through the project to “eliminate some of the oldest names in the British industry” (this I quote from Jane’s Aircraft Spectacular: Harrier)

can you send an image of the page from the book if thats okay? Not that I dont believe you, its just that this is the first Im hearing of it from a reliable source. and every other diagram primary/secondary source has not mentioned this.

No problem, I’ll only be able to it tomorrow though

thats all good mate.

I must also mention, earlier in the forum I said it can take AIM 7s (I think I did anyway) it was planned for the P.1154 (for the RN) to also use AIM 7Es (or E-2s) for BVR as the radar was fitted for that but also it was highlighted that the Americans were fighting with radar guided weaponry and didn’t just use it for target search, I read this somewhere on Secret Projects forum but cannot for the life of me find it again so all I can do is just say trust me bro

Im going to be honest 7Es seems dubious considering that it would be a very substantial weapon to have.

Its something that almost definitely would have been brought up in some of the books i used when researching it (namely BSP), plus SPF isnt much more credible than here sometimes.

I am not sure about it either.

Yet I am sure integration of AIM-7 would have been fairly straightforward as its radar would have been similar to the Phantoms.

If it comes to the game we could probably just stick a renamed F4J/S radar inside the nose, it is said in some books and legit websites that the radar was better than even what the Yanks were using, which at the time was the F4E’s radar and the F4J 's radar

Not only that it would have F-16 levels of STR due to its stupid thrust.

And the ability to VIFF would be epic as well.

I can only imagen getting into fights with the Yak 41, ofc you would lose but the dogfight would be interesting. You have the most powerful engine in the game, wings with more lift, better TVC controllability and punchier guns but you have worse missiles, worse avionics, slower travelling bullets, no HMCS. The P.1154 would be very balanced at say, 11.3 in all game modes, outperform almost everything but can’t easily kill everything

You’d beat the Yak-141 easy lol in a dogfight.

If you’re going guns then easily but when you only have Red Tops vs R60Ms or R73 + HMCS then you’re absolutely screwed. But it’s very interesting to think about

True it’s missiles are old
