So i have over 225 hours of playtime in Warthunder now. and something that has been bothering me for quite some time is the fact that in the course of my 225 hours of playtime i never managed to kill even a single tank using artillery in ground battles. this is while i get killed by artillery pretty regularly and i always become jealous of people who manage to kill me using artillery.
anyways do you guys think im just being unlucky or its a skill issue?
Artillery is more used for strategic defense, if someone was holding a good angle on you and you can’t move artillery is your perfect friend. If you place the artillery right you force your opponent to move. However sometimes it’s possible to get kills with artillery if either your enemy is very dumb and doesn’t move, or if you place your artillery at a point where you know there are going to be enemies. And for that you need to have good map knowledge.

I usually drop arty on caps before the enemy get there (by the time they are capturing, the arty kills them), or over tracked tanks to get kills.
You can also use them to make the enemy get out of his camping spot.
The far you are, less precise its the arty.

It’s just luck, most people will move out of the strike zone before it hits unless they are disabled and even if they don’t you still need a lucky hit on their roof, unless they are an open top.

You would be surprised how many people stay still even when arty just to cap and get some cheap rp.
I often just drive right through an artillery barrage with them impacying all around me and only getting slightly damaged. Caused the enemy to retreat from shock a few times.
Only got killed by artillery once, and it was my own, which I forgot about 🤣
nearly every round if i get arti on my position i get a direct hit, only if i completly move out of the zone 10 rounds with arti, i get killed 6 times, i wounder how exactly i get the hit, if i move or not i get killed or very hard damage, if i set arti, 100 times only 3-4 kills
The enemy yes…my teammates…no. Biggest bunch of morons are your own team who sees the orange smoke, and just drives right through it for a Teamkill.
