first off. make sure what you say makes sense second off it does have weaker hull armor due to it being cast I believe so its about 30% weaker compared to the m4a2 and m4a3
that’s why M4A1 is below A2 and A3
but that doesn’t mean it needs to be downgraded, it’s still stronger than the T-34-57 due to its sighting angles, better damage and stabilizer
The Sherman Firefly is also worse than the M4A1, I probably don’t need to explain why…

Firefly is better in uptiers than M4A1 76, and 5.0 America faces shitloads of uptiers compared to other BRs. In downtiers, the M4A1 has a slight edge since pen doesn’t matter as much, however the firefly’s increased versatility is more valuable than doing slightly better in downtiers.
This does not change the fact that the M4A1 at 4.7 will become very strong.

It was actually pretty balanced when it was back at 4.7. Its hull is still very weak, and even things like 75mm Shermans can easily pen it. In many situations, the 75mm is more useful than the 76mm. It’s still a fine enough tank at 5.0, however being higher than the Firefly is strange.
M4A1 v.s Firefly is very similar to KV-85 v.s the VK 3002. The KV-85 might be more effective at its BR, however the VK 3002 is far more oppressive in downtiers, and uptiers barely even effect it. It’s the same way with the M4A1 76 and the Firefly, with the only difference being than neither tank is oppressive.
Firefly’s shells do NOT have explosives, which makes them several times worse, so being taller than a firefly is not at all strange.
Sorry bro, but the problem here is most likely not in the tank, but in the one who controls it…

Compared to the 4.7 firefly, even though I haven’t played either tank recently I recall the M4A1(76) being a lot better handling - stabilizer, better depression angle, no first stage ammo rack, similar survivability(you die getting looked at,) and better .50 angles. The extra pen helps, but only really against the SU–85M and the German heavy TDs. In every other situation i’d rather have the American 76.

Note that I never once said that the firefly is bad and that its combat rating needs to be lowered, so your words are meaningless.
However, you are whining about the M4A1 and want to lower its BR
at the same time you play very badly on M4A1 and have never played on firefly lol

And I’m just saying that it was raised higher along with some other tanks, then the KV-1 (ZiS-5) was at 4.3, but it was also raised along with the Sherman, would it be fair to lower only the Sherman when they raised everyone along with it?
And I played on the M4A1 at Br 5.0 I liked it, it doesn’t suffer and doesn’t need to be downgraded

The M18 doesn’t necesarily suffer at 6.0 either, but it should still be lowered to 5.7 for the sake of being in a complete lineup.
M4A3E2 doesn’t necesarily suffer at 5.7, but it should still be lowered to so it doesn’t face KTs.
The EBR 1951 doesn’t necesarily suffer at 5.3, but it should still be lowered for, well this one doesn’t even need explaining.
You see how the “doesn’t necesarily suffer” argument is worthless? M4A1 76 would be more balanced at 4.7. simple as.

There are a lot of cars in the game whose BR may seem (or really) unfair
But I think that the M4A1 at 4.7 will be too strong and it is best suited for 5.0
if you are good at aiming, you can drive towards a guy & thanks to the stab hit his weakspots and 1-shot him pretty easily. Good mobility too, but yeah the armor is lacking at that BR.
