A very detailed report with a lot of time and research put into it was rejected for, again, very silly reasons.
The AV-8A manual has a limited performance section (The original performance section was redacted and classified, and 2 fill in plots where added in the early 1970s specifically Change 2 of 1973 you can see this on the cover)
There contains a plot for cockpit units AOA per G for a specified weight. This chart is not only invalid but cockpit units AOA do not appear to correlate to units ADD/AOA seen in very literally every single other document ever created for the harrier. Not only this but the G capabilities at any speed / AOA do not match any other document.
However all 3 of my primary sources state quite literally the exact same value for any given circumstance.
The Harrier 1 actually has a maximum AOA capability of 25 degrees at low speeds and at high indicated Mach numbers its not possible for it to hit the 20 (Max) seen in the AV-8A manual plot.
Not only this but the AV-8A manual doesn’t even include the engine thrust ratings used in the level flight envelope.
What I would also like to point out is this, I have Coefficient of lift data for this aircraft IRL, and when compared to the Cl data in game its very short of expected values. That should be more then enough “Proof”
Why have all of these Harrier reports and issues been ignored? Why will the devs not fix them?
Is within a sufficient margin of tolerance that no noticeable changes would be felt.
In testing, the correct instant G capabilities were displayed. AV-8A, guns installed, 17200lb, SL:
600 - 10.6
400 - 6.5-6.8G
300 - 3.5-3.9
AoA could not be made to match exactly, however we can’t make exact CK-AOA dependency for all conditions.
But the maximum G capabilities matches with manuals and SAC data close enough within the margin of tolerance.
CL data based on nasa Tm 88376 and nasa v/stol research aircraft pages, and it matches to known diagram for AV-8 manual
Here’s something that’s good food for thought, if you need some convincing.
Or anyone else for that matter.
As seen in the E-M diagram the harrier can sustain its “ITR” at 400 knots. According to gaijins source you could pull the harrier to 19-20 degrees AOA and it would rapidly accelerate up to 400 knots.
That really doesn’t make sense. What makes more sense is that this is the instantaneous turn rate for buffet limits. Being the G at which the harrier starts to experience moderate buffeting.
Meaning it’s likely 12-14 degrees AOA and it can sustain that at 400 knots, and 16-18 degrees AOA can be used in deep buffet and wing rock to get the true maximum G. Being around 6 at 400 knots for this weight according to the ODM. (The manual designed to determine performance)
There is also this chart from the AV-8C pocket tactical manual. 7G can be achieved at 400 knots but you’ll be pulling deep into the buffet limits nearing the AOA limit instead of the buffet limit.
to me it seems that you are showing the same level of understanding as you did during your whole “I hate the F15 phase” where you were purposely making conclusions based off the wrong charts and out right lying after being proven wrong
Maybe the Harrier actually just sucks IRL and that’s why it was shit canned and you don’t know how to read documents? Wouldn’t be the first time or the last time.
