Harrier GR.1 and SRAM (shame and disgrace)

Harrier GR.1

Premium British aircraft with a combat rating of 9.7, it’s a disgrace, the aircraft has no false heat targets (while the Harrier GR.3 has the same combat rating), armed with 4 SRAM air-to-air missiles. Missiles with a range of 2 km, an unknown self-destruction system. The aircraft is incredibly heavy, it is almost impossible to twist at least someone without using the vertical takeoff system. I do not understand what happened to the pitch. In the attached links I leave two videos of 2 minutes each, demonstrating the full power of the missile, and also this aircraft was officially on fire and did not turn.

Also, the GR.1 was never armed with flares, only chaff, which iirc were crammed on it during falklands

there is no question about false thermal targets, this is a claim to the combat rating (there are enough unguided missiles)

In the video, shots were fired from a distance of 300m-700m at aircraft maneuvering towards the carrier aircraft, the missile suddenly starts flying back (into the player’s face), after which they start maneuvering towards the enemy, false heat targets (I know that there is no interference protection).

The SRAAM has a minimum launch speed of around ~400kph, if fired below that speed the missile is prone to over correct and spin out of control.

There are also two open reports to improve its maximum range and all-aspect capability;

Thank

Also some issues with it when fired within around 400m of the target above the min speed

The performance of the SRAAM remained largely unchanged since March 2021. What has changed is the combat environment and the BR of the aircraft. Harrier GR.1 used to be at 9.3 BR, but due to its exceptional performance, it was bumped up to 10.0 and subsequently lowered to 9.7 BR. Now, the entire tier above 9.7 is populated with highly maneuverable fighters carrying high-performance missiles, which is undoubtedly a double whammy for Harrier GR.1, a plane that is already lacking in maneuverability and countermeasures.

It’s incredible that even with the decompression of the BRs, the Harrier GR1 still doesn’t perform well. It can’t reach the base because it’s a subsonic plane playing against supersonic jets, the missile needs to be right next to behind the enemy (less them 1km), and if they know how to use flares, you lose all your missiles. There are planes launching AIM 9L at you, and you have no chance to defend yourself because you don’t have flares.
