It’s pretty easy to find videos of a tank reloading in X time. I could probably find one of an Abrams taking 8 seconds to reload somewhere but that doesn’t mean that should be the reload in game.
Also reload is a balancing factor
It is yes.
What OP is asking if the best time should be taken always. Of course with BR adjustments
Leopard 2: ~4.5 seconds
T72: ~7 seconds
T-80: ~4 seconds
Lekek: ~5 seconds
Abrams: ~4 seconds
Type 90: ~3 seconds
Sure but then lets introduce loader fatigue. Since autoloaders are now modeled as modules that can be destroyed. So if you are in prologned fire fight shooting round after round reload gets worse as loader get tired. Then after say 30 sec of last round fired he starts to recover slowly.
Then BRs would need massive changes. Whilst reload rates are used pretty poorly for balance. Some of the strongest tanks in game getting even stronger, just doesn’t sound good for the current balance
Should go off of the trained time to reload, that the loaders have to be certified for
All reloads are real reloads so long as they’re slower than the fastest reload time.
Would love realistic reloads but then we imbalance the game further.
You propose giving the best, most armoured, most mobile and deadliest tanks a reload buff.
That just makes them even better a Leopard 2A7V with a 4.5 second reload is insanity. Unless we start to get rounds that can penetrate the Leopard 2A7 (variants armour reliably)
It’s a hard no
AZ autoloader is correct ingame, the reload time isnt linear irl but 7.5 is pretty good as an average as the sources on it vary.
T80 reload is not even close to 4 seconds. like even to most positive numbers for mz that ive ever seen dont put it that low, even in the video posted by op which has close to half a rotation to get to the shell takes 8 seconds from start to finish, assuming its reloding a close shell it should be no less than 6/7 seconds, which is reflected in game.
Im counting the time it takes as soon as the shot is taken and the loader picks up the shell directly underneath and loads it.
As an revision, i think its 5.5 seconds.
thats the wrong way to count the time, the rotation time is part of the loading time, from start to rotation to the full lowering of the autoloader its 8 seconds. now if the rotation is shorter because its picking up a nearby shell its fair to assume it would be no shorter than 6.5 to 6 seconds(though ive never seen it personally), ive also seen slower examples of mz loading than this one so its fair to assume poor maintenance might lower the speed.
im considering ideal times here broski. if i started counting the inefficiencies everything might as well not load at all cuz that is a possibility
If it allows the type 10 to get it’s irl WAR capacity reload rate then sure, why not
i didnt count that, ideal time is very likely 6/6.5 as its in game. 5.5 is impossible and its in no document on the t80 or mz
Hear me on that
I think reload mechanic and skill should be reworked(exept autoloaders that will work the same)
Manual reload should be random
For exmple lets take the abrams
Insted of 5 sec reload it should have 5-6 sec reload and its random so u can have 1 time 5.8 sec reload and one time 5.1 sec
So what crew skill effects?
The odds of how short the reload is
So a max crew will 90% of the time wont go more then 5.3 sec and probably never see 6 sec reload but from time to time u might have like 5.7 sec but very rare
This change not only be more realistic but also more balanced so crew skill has a bit less effect (good or bad) on reload since maxed crew wont get 5.0 sec every time but also 1 level crew wont get 6 sec every time
Thoughts?
reload rate is a balancing factor in game, hence we dont take it as what it is irl. im sure the T-80 can reach 5.5 secs with a maintained and well oiled and lubricated AL
For a single shot, then the loader needs to rotate to select the next shell.
And lets not even mention how there is no delay selecting an HE or ATGM it loads at the exact same rate and not the increased time it would take for the autoloader to rotate to that station.
I mean in game 90% of the time you’re just taking pure APFSDS, so the autoloader is only cycling one round, so the T-80s should have a 6 second reload. (They have 6.5/7.1 in game because Gaijin decided to average their reload speed for balance).
5.5 wouldn’t work, since afaik the shell can be loaded within 5.5 seconds, but at that time the gun is still locked in position. There is an additional half second you need to wait before the gun returns to position and under the gunner’s control, hence 6.0 seconds being the maximum.
