Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat - End of a Legendary Era

You can’t chaff the CW antenna at all when it’s in that mode? So it’s basically like a perfect headon lock always with IRST+CW mode?

I could be wrong but I believe slaving is with the tcs not radar to irst I’m pretty sure it’s tcs to radar or tcs to irst but I could be wrong.

They’re all interconnected. And for ARH’s I don’t even think they need a solid radar track, just send it straight to the missile from the IRST or TCS since they give Trackfiles.

Ofc unfortunately gaijin removed launching fox 3s from irst so I doubt we will see this amazing feature in game

F-14D IRST interface and BOL drops shown from the IRST.

IRST or Lantirn?..

Just checked, it’s definitely LANTIRN. I got tripped up with the thermals and it locking the aircraft.

does f-14d irst have ranging?

99% sure it does

does it do it with a laser?

I’m pretty sure just using IRSTs, you need 2 aircraft to do ranging. When you include the radar/tcs/ew/ecm systems, that changes. I’m not sure if LANTIRN could do that.

oh yeah it would have ranging through the tcs anyways, forgot bout that

But in game it is mistake.

I’m back on the F-14D path. APG-71, IRST, HUD symbology, the whole works. So far here’s some things I’ve found.
While looking up backseat pictures with the APG-71 but in fishbowl form I found 2 very nice images:

  1. Shows the LANTIRN display in the fishbowl. Previously thought to not be possible.

  2. (Bombshell) I actually found evidence of this, but I found it before and kinda showed yall. Remember this photo?

Well I thought I saw NCTR on the right side there but it’s honestly so blurry I didn’t want to say anything, plus, looking closer at the image makes it look more grainy imo.
Now, I have definite proof that the APG-71 includes NCTR:

As you can see on the middle right of the upper radar control station, you can see the buttons for NCTR along with lots of other radar/irst/tcs/ew/ecm systems. Finally we don’t need the manual to rely on evidence for the Tomcat D getting this.

Why would it not have nctr if the apg 70 has nctr

It’s still based off the AWG-9 hardware so there might’ve been restrictions idk

its less based on more the APG70 is a DIGITAL AWG-9 so its lot faster same thing just digital
