Hi guys,
anyone knows a solution to ground textures not loading/ or loading very slow.
Especially in Vietnam and Afghanistan it is very annoying when the mountains look like 1997,
Tried high and medium texture quality, but no big change.
Im pretty sure the RX6800XT and SSD should have enough bandwith and VRam to load everything properly.

Specs:
Ryzen 5 5800X3D
AMD RX6800XT
32 GB Ram
1TB SSD
Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop.

Ok, fixed the problem.
FYI:
Installed the recommended GPU driver (23.13.1) from the Virtual Desktop discord.
Maybe that’s useful for someone.
I have this problem for the last 2.5 months
Tried different drivers, didn’t help
What GPU and what headset/setup do you use?
Maybe we can figure out a solution.
I have 4060ti 8GB
And I don’t have VR, but I have the same visual bugs with textures in 2D!
Some objects or parts of terrain lose their texture LOD to blurry mess, while other stuff still in high resolution.
Spoiler
I just looked thru the whole web, looking for the fix and commented in every topic that has similar problem mentioned.
Sorry if I disturbed you.
looks quite similar to my issue back then.
But your GPU could be limited my the 8GB and the low bandwith.
You probably tried it already, but here are some points coming to my mind:
-delete the cache folder
-go back to an older GPU driver, if the issue startet after a driver update
-remove the old gpu drivers completely with DDU and reinstall it.
-change the texture details
-change the Anisotropic filter setting. (I had some other texture problems with it too a year ago.)
-Is the game installed on a ssd or hdd? hdd could be too slow.
-Maybe you can change something in the Nvidia settings (regarding textures or LoD)
Perhaps something of these helps you.
Thanx, tried everything.
Game is on SSD, and I have 32gb RAM.
Already tried to reinstall it on another SSD, no changes.
8GB VRAM was more than enough before Firebirds update in november. Game worked well.
I had 1060 with 6GB VRAM before and played at maximum settings @ 1440p.
Yes, FPS was much lower, but I never had problems with textures.
I could even set 4K to make hires screenshot for contest and everything was sharp and clear.
Even if I set 1280x720 resolution, memory will leak and game will go higher than 8GB VRAM and textures will fail anyway.
I also updated BIOS, turned on ReBAR, updated chipset drivers, changed CPU frequency, lowered voltage, raised voltage, checked DRAM etc
I updated windows, I repaired windows.
I used different drivers version.
No changes.
The only thing I can’t try is different War Thunder version.
And I don’t have any problems in any other game. None of game has similar problems with textures resolution.
And no game with such “old” graphics uses more than 5-6 GB of VRAM.
No changes in settings… And bang! Textures suddenly go bluuurrrrrrr

hmm, bad luck then I guess.
Maybe a future update will fix it. Or at least make it not worse… ;)
