Game mode: Ground RB
BR range: 6.7
Nation played: USSR
Lineup used:
IS-2 (1944)
T-44
SU-100
Issue:
In multiple matches at BR 6.7 the USSR lineup struggles to effectively engage US heavy and medium tanks in frontal combat, especially in long-range and hull-down situations.
Vehicles faced most often:
T29
T34
T26E5
M26 Pershing
Reasons this becomes difficult for the USSR lineup:
• IS-2 has a very long reload, which heavily punishes any non-lethal shot.
• The 122 mm gun has strong post-penetration damage, but the reload prevents follow-up shots if the first hit does not destroy the target.
• T-44 and T-34-85 have difficulty penetrating the frontal armor and turrets of T29/T34 at medium and long range.
• US heavy tanks can play hull-down effectively due to strong turret armor and gun depression.
• In return, the IS-2 turret and hull weak spots are easier to penetrate when exposed.
Battle result:
This often creates engagements where the US vehicles can fire multiple times before the IS-2 reloads, removing the possibility of trading shots.

IS-2 is just rubbish, although u shouldn’t have much of a problem penetrating any tank with that huge gun. T-44 is just a great tank, solid armour, mobility, and gun. SU-100P is also fantastic, plays like a light tank, so really there’s no issue whatsoever
Russia 6.7 has always been significantly lagging behind the likes of US or Germany, so I would suggest you move to 7.0 where you can use the T-44-100, Su-122-54, and Object 268, which are quite good.
Most of those USA heavies should be vulnerable through the LFP, particularly the outer 1/3rd of the plate. If it’s a T-32E1 you are screwed unless you can get a flank.
Also check out the 2S1 and 2S3M they have a 122mm HEAT-FS with 400mm pen and a 152mm HEAT with 250mm of pen at BRs 6.0 and 6.3 respectively, they are more then capable of dealing with any armour they will encounter.
those things are a pain the the arse even in a centurion mk2, which is one of the strongest tanks of the BR. mantlet is trolly as hell.
ngl. The reload on the is2 wasnt my main problem with the tank. its more that the tiger 2 is blatantly better in every way despite being the same BR. its still a great tank however its not perfect, unusual for low tier USSR as the T-34s are all BR defining until the STP (which is mid)
The base M26 Pershing is a sad medium tank with no business being at 6.7 BR. I don’t even know why you mentioned it here. With the IS-2 you should be able to penetrate pretty much anywhere on the front, and the T-44 is superior to it in most ways.
