While I agree with this change it would be better to just do away with the free kill for kamikaze attacks. If you die in an aircraft then that should count towards your ability to respawn. We get 3 spawns in GF AB and that should apply whether you die in a ground vehicle or an aircraft.
Also agree with others about showing friendlies on the map.
then they need to change the denomination of the plane based on the type of armament it puts, because if I put rockets and bombs on a mig 21 it’s from ground attack, yet often I don’t see the AA until I’m too close and they fire the missile and I kill myself or I don’t have time to maneuver with the risk of crashing
I honestly think that this change is a good change.
I do not think that there should be a marker for friendly ground forces. If such a marker would be implemented it would negate the beforementioned change.
All in all: Well done Gaijin! Thank you for this one. :)
Seems like lazy solution for open-topped vehicle that now could died easily not only from fighter, but from badly programmed overpressure.
Rather than fixing the problem, now making fighters almost useless. How about making Air rb doesn’t have markers at all too? Useless company
I don’t really like this change. At a minimum the way planes spawn in ground AB should have been adjusted, if you spawn in a fighter and are behind your team’s bomber/attacker, but have the enemy fighter behind you with no way to possibly turn to actually engage him, your only option actually is to search for something lightly armored and dive…
But then maybe it’s just me, I mostly play planes, and I even play ships more than I do tanks. This change will have me play tanks even less I guess.
Even if I enjoyed strafing, I mostly agree with this change. But it would nice to bring back the markers for our allies. Since, 1 time out of 2, when I spot and attack a ground target on a fighter, it’s a friendly.
This change feels like a great example of treating symptoms and ignoring the cause. In my opinion the whole spawn system is the problem here. It’s too random and unfair - examples: spawning 2km behind enemy bomber with enemy fighters already 500m behind you, or not being able to catch the bomber because of spawning in a slower aircraft (which leaves you with 2 choices - leave aircraft or go strafing ground units).
My proposed changes for Ground AB Air Events :
Rework spawning positions and distance
Adjust vehicles you can spawn in or allow us to bring our own aircrafts into lineups (1 per type)
Add rocket CCIP for strike aircrafts
Bring back ally markers
Add some kind of reward for escorting or increase existing one for staying alive
It’s arcade battle why you wanna make it like realistic battle before this it was a lot easier to destroy a fighter with spaa but now it’s much more difficult because they don’t dive into you
Although I’m seeing less kamikaze attacks and at least for SPAAs it has improved survivability, which I think is very positive for the game. You chose to do it all wrong in my opinion.
Gaijin should have only removed enemy markers or at least remove the vehicle type and keep all markers like before. The most important information and advantage that markers give to CAS is vehicle type which allows CAS to pick easier targets, like light armored or slower ones, or even clusters of enemy tanks. And Gaijin kept that information for bombers and attackers. As for fighters, they are still able to kill soft targets and there is one more reason for kamikaze attacks, since there are no markers fighters have to fly lower to pick their soft targets making it more likely for them to crash on top of them and not avoid the crash. And it makes no sense that you cannot even see your own marker when in a fighter, if a bomber/attacker goes for your tank(since they can see your marker) you have no clue and only find out when you return to a burned down tank after using your fighter.
Also, remove the skull from markers, it only promotes revenge killing and toxic behaviour, why remove names if then you mark the enemy that killed you just for you to be able to go after it on a plane?
Bring back the old CAS spawn system where planes would spawn facing each other, there was always the chance to intercept or avoid interception, not like it is now where everything mostly depends on Gaijin. Never spawn enemy planes from behind our team’s spawn.
Fighters could be limited to the altitude at which they can fly, e.g. fly too low lose control of aircraft. Have fighters spawn opposite side of map from bombers. Fighters engage fighters upon spawn and the victor can make an attempt to engage the bomber. That said , what do I know… I’ve only been playing WT for 3 months and very recently began participating in Air Battles.
