Greece-Cyprus tech tree Situation

As a Greek Im happy that Greece and Cyprus will be added. Even though this is a pretty good addition, there are some things wt devs should do. Im not the only one complaining since other people have suggested things. Gaijin shouldnt place these nations in Isreal. For Cyprus it kinda fits due to the relations but still smt feels wrong. We are talking about 2 nations being added, since they will be added as a sub tech tree it would make more sense for to be on Italy,France,Britain,Germany. Italy has already a sub tech tree so its out of the way, now France, Greece’s air defense focuses on american and french planes, but this is air, for ground moslty german tanks and in ww2 british. Germany recently got a swiss sub tree so i think it doesnt belong there as much on the other nations. Even though Britain could be the one due to ww2 i believe France fits, for both ground and air France lacks some “action” in both those modes. But France has a sub-tree so wt devs should either make it a minor nation or create a balkan tech tree.

No.
They should go to israel.

the cyprus subtree should go wherever the greek subtree goes

they all already have subtrees

you realise most of the israeli treaties with cyprus are three way and include greece as well right?

yeah like a subtree

without hungary and probably romania it would be a bit of a weird balkan tree i guess turkey could be added but I doubt a lot of people would be a fan of that

On one hand i understand why you and other players don’t want it in Israel. But on the other hand… i find the idea of another tree getting a leopard absolutely hilarious. (Tho they could just give Israel Singapore instead.)

At first I was happy for Israel getting some love, but then I did a quick research and greece and cyprus doesnt add original vehicles, much of US tanks helis and planes we already have it, and the rest is just copy paste from germany france and russia.

It makes more sense to add chilean, colombian and some turkish vehicles which are original and have more sense in israel relations. Like the md500 with spikes and lahat, the rest of sabra family, Arpía IV, marder with spike, etc. And singapure as a bonus.

Just a straight add of t80u leopard amx30 su30 to israel feels wrong. Even israel is missing their homemade vehicles and some captured ones.

i am an israeli, u have a problem with that?

I asked my Greek girlfriend about this, and she said, “I assumed they would have a combination of Turkey + Greece–Cyprus tree.” Granted, she didn’t really understand the concept of major, minor, and sub tech trees, but it still makes more sense to me since they’re in the same theater. I think their tech tree could be quite interesting. ChatGPT had a wild time suggesting what the tech tree could look like and even called it “The Dolmades Tech Tree.”

eg

[Small disclaimer: this is a repost of another discussion I participated in regarding the Hellenic additions to Israel which has been partially edited to further the points made. It is highly recommended this post is read in full]

Honestly, there are many additions that could be done to the Israeli tree, and I consider Greece isn’t one of those strong connections in comparison to other nations that could be added, mainly Latin America and Middle Eastern nations.

In my opinion, this whole ordeal regarding Cyprus and Greece seems misplaced from the developer’s side.

To actually start this discussion, what kind of connections in the first place have they made to JUSTIFY PROPERLY the inclusion of both Cyprus and Greece to Israel? As a Latin American War Thunder player, I think we should be the ones added to the Israeli tech tree, as historically speaking, Israel has been the defense partner of choice for this region, just to mention a few and the aircraft in (and past) service:

Ecuador: Kfir C.2 and CE (C.10), Mirage F1 JE & JA

Ecuadorian Air Force — Kfir CE

Ecuadorian Air Force — Mirage F1JA

Colombia: Kfir C.2, C.7, COA (C.10) and the C.10 Block 60

Colombian Air Force — Kfir COA (C.10)

Chile: F-5E Tiger III, Mirage 50CN Pantera, F-16C/D Block 50

Chilean Air Force — F-5E Tiger III

Author’s Note: Big thanks to @Chilean_Thunder for informing us about this israeli modernized F-16 variant.

Brazil: F-5EM

Brazilian Air Force — F-5EM

Another thing worth to consider is the fact that, there are already original and interesting Israeli vehicles that COULD be added and have IN FACT been accepted as suggestions, but so far not implemented, here the most notable:

IAI Lavi

MiG-21 2000

Israeli Air Force - IAI MiG-21 2000 Prototype

F-16B Block 5 “4X-ACE”

[Author’s Note: The F-16B Block 5 “4X-ACE” has yet to be considered by the developers, I hope to be proven right and considered properly as these other aircraft have been.]

For what I’ve noticed so far, the usual pattern for implementing sub-tree nations to a tree seems to be that either they must:

  • Share territorial proximity
  • Share or have shared military partnerships
  • Have common historical background (optional)

As an Israeli main, I am deeply opposed to this implementation because it seems to violate in every way the (questionable but somewhat perceivable) standard that has been implemented for nation sub-trees.

In my opinion, I think Israel (to the disdain of some) should cover the nations of the Middle East and Latin America, which seem far more natural for the nation and which follow at least two out of the parameters mentioned before for a “seamless” integration.

Another crucial reason behind the inclusion of Middle Eastern aircraft is due to the notable possibility of supplying competitive top-tier aircraft. With this information in hand, the Israeli tech tree could be justifiably supplemented, in total or partially, with the following Middle Eastern nations and their aircraft:

Saudi Arabia: Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3A, Panavia Tornado IDS, F-15C Eagle

Royal Saudi Air Force — Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3A

Royal Saudi Air Force — F-15C Eagle

Egypt: Dassault Rafale F3, F-16A/C Fighting Falcon, Mirage 2000EM, MiG-29M

Syria: MiG-23MF/ML/MLD, MiG-29SE/SM/SMT, MiG-21MF/bis.

Iran: MiG-29 9.12B, F-14A Tomcat, Saeqeh, Kowsar, Azarakhsh, F-4E/D Phantom II, F-5E/F Tiger II, J-7N, Mirage F1EQ

Iranian Air Force — MiG-29 9.12B

Iranian Air Force — HESA Saeqeh

Kuwait: F/A-18C Hornet, F/A-18E Super Hornet, Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3A

Kuwait Air Force — F/A-18E Hornet

Kuwait Air Force — Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3A

Bahrain: F-16C/D Block 40, F-16V Block 70

Royal Bahraini Air Force — F-16V Block 70

Please note that this suggestions list has been made for noting purposes, I highly encourage the developers to include the most interesting variants of the aircraft mentioned before in favor of the experience of whoever may choose to play these aircraft, as the inclusion of original or rare aircraft variants is what I consider drives the community forward.

Edit: Upon further information by a fellow community member, the Chilean F-16 has been added as an aircraft of consideration to Latin America in regards to the Israeli tree.

I really do advise you to actually look up the meaning of words. Thing is, even if we take into account “feeble overused joke” as “bad overused joke” because jokes can’t really be feeble the majority of the community does find it interesting, if not funny. I’ve seen it a lot as a particular response to the dev log regarding the choices the devs made.

Also, your comment about something “mind-blowing” is a pretty interesting choice of words, considering current events, isn’t it?

It is clearly inappropriate to unilaterally declare the integration of entirely unrelated countries and regions.

France already has a sub-tree - Benelux.

Guess I can’t threaten the mods with tickling them then…

Do not speak of everyone, I personally love playing Israel and their amazing aircraft.

While the developer’s decision is in fact misguided in every way possible, as a community of Israeli players we must strive to guide and display our opinions regarding this addition, because after all, we are the ones who WILL play our nation, and if our nation gets even more interesting aircraft, Israel will stop being the niche and often over-looked nation it is today.

I hope everything goes to plan and Israel receives much more concordant vehicles and nation sub-trees.

I don’t think Israel needs more copy paste vehicles. We need more new vehicles instead of repeated stuff, its getting boring. Feels like every country is just China and takes from America.

Israel itself should be an Subtree imo. Maybe for UK/USA.
Instead of a Skeleton-Tree being flooded with Copy-Paste.

But Subtrees are increasingly just turning into a disaster greatly reducing the Quality of the Game. It strips away the whole individuality of some Trees; makes some Line Ups even obsolete to play. Like why play the Leopards in Germanys Tree when you can have both the Leopards and Leclerc in Frances Tree thanks to Netherland Subtree?

Every Tree and their Mom going to have a Leopard and Abrams…

And all those Subtrees add is literally just Copy-Paste Slop. All that time spend adding those could’ve been spend on adding domestic / unique Vehicles; instead just Copy-Paste and then people complain about Copy Paste but at the same time ask for Subtrees…

in US tree, namer can fill the line after HSTVL, Merkava fill the line after HC Abrams, Magach as vehicle between HC Abrams and M60, while stuff like Ayit, Kfir, Sufa, Nesher, Ra’am and Kurnass can be Foldered in the respective vehile BR and rank in the most fitting plane to predate it. even stuff like Zachlam Tager, Super Sherman and other lower tier Israeli tank can and should be shoved in american lower tier.

In short, Israel is the perfect US Subtree, except gaijin got cocky and made it its own tree when half the stuff especially air was utter C&P Trash made to fill the line.
