Great question, why is the Destroyer Kléber going up in BR?

With the upcoming BR changes likely to happen soon, I figured I’d ask here since the post is locked.

What is the Kléber?

Well it’s the Ex Z6 Theodor Riedel a German built Type 1934A Zerstörer with a main cannon removed but the addition of six 40 mm/60 Mk. 3 autocannons in place of the German 3.7 cm/65 C/30 autocannons which were landed post war after the ship was sent to france from the brits.

The Closest ship is the Z15 Erich Steinbrinck,

Also a Type 1934A an bar the reconstructed superstructure & said AA changes, there’s absolutely no difference from the two ships yet the french vessel goes up in BR (although the German ship gets fourteen 3.7 cm barrels in seven mounts & they iirc don’t overheat).

Sooooo, what’s the go with this change? What was the point or reason, are french players just built different if the german version remains at the current BR.

Sidenote, rather bummed that I didn’t get around to asking on the original thread ntm maybe plea some suggestions that’ll not be taken on, yet here we’re.

its totally nonsense to give the nearly same vessels different BR or ranks (e.g. M24).
This time the BR update shows again a lot of silly things (changing spawn of Marne and Aisne instead of increasing their BR) On the other hand slow ships like commandante Dominé spawn at bluewater point where they are only free kills for the reserve-destroyers

of the two options, I think changing the spawn is the better choice
raising their BRs would only give the 2.3s a bit of a breather, whilst the core issue would remain unaddressed. Marne/Aisne could be 4.3 and they’d still pop speedboats at their leisure, because they spawn right next to them, and the survivability of most speedboats doesn’t change much over the ranks

now granted, on some maps their new DD spawn will be a significant limitation to their effectiveness, but removing the proverbial cat from the pigeon coop is a better (stopgap?) solution than moving the problem up 0.3
ideally, (certain maps) could do with an intermediate spawn for these kinds of ‘greenwater’ vessels whose capabilities make them unsuitable for coastal/bluewater spawns

don’t agree - raising their BR would give a good counter to the russian op-boats like PR206 which now have no serious opponent left. All other non russ. boats (except the german Pr206) at 4.3 have nearly no chance in a 1:1 fight

I gave up trying to find a reasonable explanation for BR changes like this. I think the short answer is that French naval players are generally more experienced and will generally perform better with the same ship than the equivalent German player.

I don’t believe many new players (that aren’t masochists) are starting naval playing French ships.
