Graphics have been terrible for over a month now since the Hornet's Sting update

Ever since the Hornet’s sting update, graphics and lighting have been horrible, cockpits are pixelated messes, trees, grass, and even entire buildings pop in mere meters from my tank, even the camoflage itself is pixelated. It does not matter what graphics settings I use. On snow maps it’s particularly jarring because there is a patch of lighter snow that has popped in continuously shifting around my tank while the rest of the map is completely undetailed.

These are my settings, I have all of the High Res texture packs downloaded and installed, and yet this is what my game looks like. What the fuck is wrong here?

Not just older models either, this is the cockpit on the premium Hornet. Using deep learning super sampling, but even when I switch around AA options it doesn’t look any different.

What are your settings for the top part of the graphics section?
What are your post FX settings?

This looks like it might be some sort of anti aliasing or sharpening setting issue.

Are you upscaling/downscaling?
what resolution?

These are the current settings, but I’ve tried every anti-aliasing option as well as changing sharpness (reason sharpness is so high right now is I changed it because everything was already looking bad)

Oh yeah, try dragging those “sharpness” settings in Post FX down to like half or less and see how that looks. the Anisotropy could also be lowered one step perhaps.

Play around with those a bit and see if it helps, but maxing both Anisotropic and sharpness at the same time will make things wonky.

Lowered to half and put ansiotropy to 8x and no perceptible difference at all. AA settings would also probably not affect rendering distance, right? I experience like a bubble of about 50 meters around my tank in Ground rb where things are rendered and there is better lighting. It’s extremely distracting on snow maps.

I think that is game bound, it’s going to do that regardless of your settings, it might be less noticeable if you lower the “Terrain displacement quality” one step but i don’t think you can get rid of that.

No difference at all in the cockpit with sharpening to max or zero?
That’s odd, it should be quite a big difference.

There might be a slight difference, but not really noticeable at first glance.

I am fairly confident it wasn’t doing that before the update, that snow maps were almost painful to play on and that trees and bushes were extremely pixellated with extreme pop-in was something I noticed before even any of the ot her graphics issues, I just assumed it was a glitch that would be fixed as they did more hotfixes until recently.

To me that looks better, look at the white lines on the dial and edges of knobs/switches for example:

As well as these dials:

The lowered sharpness is definitely noticeable but it’s still very pixelated and almost blurry. I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference without a side-by-side comparison.

It’s slight, but definitely better, i think dragging the sharpness to like 10% might take away some of the blurriness without introducing the weird edges and artefacts.

Also, personally i have had better experiences in snow without the Dynamic Lut on and a fixed Lut at ~0.2 (adjust for personal preference)

I would still say in cockpit view it is pretty noticeably bad, and even then the terrain issues I’m having make any map that isn’t just clear and sunny look very awful.

I would double check this as well.

Also; try test flying different aircraft, some have better modeled cockpits than others.

I only installed the high res packs today to see if they would help so I doubt that is the problem.

I meant to see if it actually installed correctly and is used. Are you using steam or standalone client?

Steam

Right click War Thunder → properties → DLC and see if all three are downloaded and checked like this:

They are

Then i sadly think we’re at a point where i can no longer help you, my only tip is to play around with the different graphics settings to see if it can be better, but at this point i doubt it.

Edit:
Try test flying the squadron vehicle F-5E FCU and see how that cockpit looks for you.
Some planes have more details in their cockpit than others.
