So, now that the Yak-41 can face aircraft that carry a large number of ARH missiles, it’s best days are well past it at this point. It should recieve the R-73 and R-77 and become the Soviet version of the AV-8B+/Harrier FA.2.
If this happens the BR should go up accordingly to reflect its new armaments. Raising the BR if its given these weapons wouldnt really affect it since it would finally be able to hold its ground against aircraft that obliterate it right now.
Otherwise, I propose lowering it down to 12.3. The round of BR changes in October 2024 that dropped the BR of most non-ARH planes at top tier didn’t drop the Yak-41. It’s currently in a pretty rough place at 12.7, yes it can get kills, but it’s currently another shining example of how BR compression takes a decent plane and oneshots its chances.
If you just add R77/R73 and then move to 13.0, it will become one of the silliest jets. If remove the R27ER, I have no idea how could it against those F18A
this is a compression issue.
The R 27 ER is still the best FOX 1 (now just not with as big of a margin), and outclasses the competition at lower BR’s like the F4E.
And the R 27 ET is nice (and the best long range FOX 2).
A version with the R73 and R77 would be interesting as a “late” version how Gaijin likes to name it, being foldered and at 13.0 or something.
It’s not bad against the 13.0s, it’s bad against the under-BR’d 13.7s, and 1 - 2 under-BR’d 13.3[s].
Obviously 13.3 - 14.0 as a whole is under-BR’d by 0.3.
And half of 13.0 is under-BR’d by 0.3.
The medium range IR kit of Yak-141 is extremely potent.
This is the other idea I was kicking around. I wouldn’t mind it if they Added a Yak-41M or something similar with the updated loadout and the LERX planned for it.
