Give flakbus fuze control options

WE THE GERMAN MAINS, as for that the flak bus, has a control that allows us to manually set the fuze of the HE TF round. Gaijin please make our dreams true

You have to rangefind the plane so it goes off at that range. It doesn’t work well.

Wait wait wait, have i missed an important update? Since when does flakbus has HE TF?

since at least 2-3 years but its so bad no one uses it…

to really imagine how dumb the system really is
you and a plane are at 0m altitude (level ground) to simplify this example
the plane flying towards you is traveling at 300km/h that’s approximately 83m/s or 0.08km/s
you range find him at 1km away that takes 5 seconds to set the range at where you scanned him at, hes now traveled at 415m or 0.11km/s, you now adjust your reticle for 1km and then fire with the fuze set at 1km the shell travels at 820m/s and takes 1.22seconds to reach that outdated range estimation the enemy has now traveled in total 516.26m’s from where he was or .51km away from his prior location…
meanwhile your 88mm shell has a lethal range 10m or 0.01km

to prove your HE-VT’s shells lethality go to test drive and for giggles go ahead and range find 50m and drive till you hit the unarmored crew of the Russian truck… at 0.07km to 0.06km you’ll get shrapnel hits… so 50m - 0.06km = 20-10m where shrapnel hits crew… on top of that it only reddens them at 0.7km

So in fact you have to put the round within 10m to actually kill crew members because at 20m(0.02km) your shrapnel pieces (one) will only redden a crew member…

to illustrate what 20m looks like drive to 0.02km for a wounding shrapnel shot and for a semi-fatal shot drive to 0.01km/h… This is how stupidly close you have to put a HE round to knock out a exposed crew member standing still… the image below is 10m (to I believe the cannon pivot point)

now other factors to consider
planes tend to accelerate in level flight
planes tend to accelerate in dives
planes tend to decelerate in climbs
the fuze is only set in increments of 50m (ie. 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 250m, etc…) and NOT SECOND like fuses were historically set in
you cant set the fuse with guesstimate only a friggen “range finder” solution will set the fuse, it should be able to be set via the range adjustment so the player can manually adjust for the time it takes to range find it…

No, it “doesnt work Well” It doesnt work at all, because even if you freeze time, the moment you rangefind the aircraft, it is wrong. Because 1. It doesnt account for lead 2. The plane flys straight, while the relative range gets shorter.

I did make 2 suggestions (currently pending)

  1. General rework of He-TF, to manually change the distance.
  2. For Dedicated CREWED Heavy AA Vehicles, for it to be Similar to how AHEAD works.

Those are already known issue. Hopefully we get fuze controls for time fuze shells.

Best way to use it in the future:

  • Set range manually (1-1.5km)
  • Range the aircraft
  • Fire when the aircraft comes within the range

Of course it would be a lot easier to hit bombers. These big AA guns are just not really ment to shoot at fighters.

Not many people take heavy bombers in war thunder

It will soon, along with everything else that gets flak and proxy.

Which makes using the FlaKBus for AA duty pretty pointless.
It’s basically a gimmick. Maybe one day you can see some compilation of a guy shooting down some planes with timed fuzed 88mm HE, but it’s never going to be more effective than a Sherman with a .50cal on top.

Well a high flying Pe-8 can be pretty much out of the range of 40mm Bofors even. So using the 88 for its intended roll can be usefull then.
