Get the Spitfire Mk Vb (Float) in the Wings Over Water Event!

It felt pretty damn good, but maybe it’s not that great indeed and I just forgot how fun Spitfires are to use.
To me it seems like it could definitely beat Ki-44-II which is 3.7, but who knows, maybe it indeed bleeds energy like crazy…

I was always a fan of early Spits - real beauties. But they require (like others) special Hotas settings (sensitivity, linearity, etc.) to use them properly - i am way too lazy for adjusting my generic profile for any plane, that’s why i don’t use Spits or I-16s in wt Air RB.

They are at their BRs not bad - but up to 4.7 they are like A6Ms classic rat planes as they have to wait for mistakes as their speed and climb is usually way inferior to enemy aircraft, so they can’t kill anyone with some brainpower.

4.0 plane > adds amphibious version at 3.3 > the floats are easily removable > we now have a 4.0 Spitfire at 3.3.

Hence why I don’t like grinding modern event vehicles. 30-35-45k points to get a rank 3-5 vehicle that isn’t even that special, while people who started playing earlier have access to a ton of rank 1 and 2 vehicles to speedrun the events with. But hey at least I got the KV-8 at rank 2 that should make grinding ground events faster if I can somehow avoid full uptiers.

There are a lot of guys currently active in Air RB ripping off their floats in order to increase their plane performance. Without the floats and thx to the flap bug it is from my pov harder to kill it at lower speeds than the 4.0 Mk Vb or the 3.7 Mk IIb or VB trop.

I am not sure if gaijin has noticed that this ripping off procedure is actually forbidden by their own rules (Code of Conduct) :

So from a neutral perspective gaijin supports just by their own negligence actively rule braking behaviour. You might acknowledge that your whole “Fair play” efforts are contradicted by such things - it is similar to an official alcohol ban in a junior high school and allowing beer vending machines at the same time.

To make this clear:

I am not asking that anybody doing this has to be punished. All i am asking is that you ask your devs that they should prevent this practice like by disassembling the wings during such attempts. And if you are doing this - they should fix also the way too high flap rip speed (>500-700 instead of advertised 260 kmph).

Only 115 lots were put up for sale on the first day. This is definitely a failed marathon. I wish Gaijin would learn a lesson from this and give us some interesting vehicles for the next marathon, but it's hard to believe they will.

Its not forbidden to rip off the floats dude. Thats part of the game’s damage model (although I would hope something is implemented to damage the wings, make the wing spars/wing panels black). The flaps though absolutely is.

Increasing flight performance (climb, speed, turn) based on a flaw is a textbook definition of personal gain.

Except its not a flaw? Thats why we have dynamic flight models… to change how the aircraft performs depending on damage…

float rips shouldn’t exist in the current way.

Make it so it just ruins the float beyond recognition.
So Instead you are left with a non-streamlined dead weight instead of a streamlined dead weight.
