I like this. A nice way to steal bases using British coastal! 😄
Maybe Imma start playing British lol.
As I sure enjoy playing my goat boats in all 3 gamemodes.

If only all the observer aircraft from naval battles recieved the OS2U treatment.
Man i’d wish I could fly some KORs or even a SC-1 in air battles.
It appears that the floatplane Spitfire can do exactly that. The floats can be removed by touching the water/ground after which maximum speed is increased by about 65 km/h.
As expected…
Thx for the info!
If this one is passed then it would make floats recieve a purpose and make people think 2 times before rippin them off.

Yup, unlike A6M2, it’s super easy as there are 2 floats that basically rip as a pair. Super easy-peasy.
At 3.3 it’s probably the best plane in game.
Very easy to do and basically gives you a Vb from 4.0 at 3.3. The collision physics is complete jank in this game…
It’ll be the SAV 120 of the skies…
Landing lights seem stuck in the out position
Perhaps ripping floats should do a lot of damage to the wings which would make it not worth doing
Oooh good idea, make the wing spars and that area of the wing black
Exactly what I was thinking. I’d also like them to be a bit stronger so there’s more risk of nosing over and crashing
not super familiar with prop gameplay but i love playing spits. how does ripping the floats off make it the best? it looks like it has the same engine performance as the 3.3 mk5b trop. am i missing something besides the extra prop?
From my pov you talk about BRs in different modes. @Loofah was talking about Air RB and it looks like you talk about Air SB.
The Spit MK Vb/trop sits at BR 3.7 in Air Air RB - the floatplane is currently placed at BR 3.3 in Air RB.
So the option / possibility to rip off the floats way easier than the guys abusing the A6M2-N floatplane increases the effectiveness of Mk Vb (Float) significantly.
Air RB (fighters) at BR 3.3 is currently dominated by:
- Yak-1Bs at BR 3.0
- MB 157 at BR 3.3
- USSR P-39 (prem) at 3.0
- Finnish B-239 at BR 2.7
all of them are quite nasty opponents even if they get full uptiered - and ultra annoying to fight even in full downtiers.
Therefore a MK Vb at 3.3 in Air RB (after ripping off the floats) looks actually as a well rounded aircraft as an opponent - especially as the rather new players at Rank II are not familiar how to exploit the severe drawbacks of these early Spits (like poor MER or pathetic high alt performance).
It felt pretty damn good, but maybe it’s not that great indeed and I just forgot how fun Spitfires are to use.
To me it seems like it could definitely beat Ki-44-II which is 3.7, but who knows, maybe it indeed bleeds energy like crazy…
ohhhh my god i had my settings to sim because i was playing sim with my friends right before i sent that. im an idiot. thanks, youre right. its a mk5b at a lower br, agreed
I was always a fan of early Spits - real beauties. But they require (like others) special Hotas settings (sensitivity, linearity, etc.) to use them properly - i am way too lazy for adjusting my generic profile for any plane, that’s why i don’t use Spits or I-16s in wt Air RB.
They are at their BRs not bad - but up to 4.7 they are like A6Ms classic rat planes as they have to wait for mistakes as their speed and climb is usually way inferior to enemy aircraft, so they can’t kill anyone with some brainpower.
Enjoy it!
4.0 plane > adds amphibious version at 3.3 > the floats are easily removable > we now have a 4.0 Spitfire at 3.3.
Thank you Gajin.

is gaijin trying to tell us something
