This is especially noticeable after Ground event, or on “premium vehicles BR” to which 10.7 belongs.
as someone using 9.7 france right now, out of the past maybe 25 games, only 5 have been at 9.7, 14 were at 10.3 and the rest were 10.7.
thats the AMX 40, it has a better round than the shir 2, far better mobility, thermals, 20mm coaxial, and not far off a similar reload.
The shir 2 should get its historical L23A1 and go to 10.0 and that would be it.
or nerf its reload to the same as a chieftain and drop it to 9.3.
At 9.7 with L23 standard it is not going to suffice at all.

The matchmaker forbids more than 4 vehicles 1 BR higher than your vehicles.
The matchmaker has worked that way since prior to 2017.
Yeah, too much is missing at that BR. Unless chieftain 11 is planned for 9.7 next major. This event then makes more sense

I’d have something to say if the Cheiftain Mk.11 is 9.7, it’s just a Mk.10 with TOGS right?

I’m not convinced about that. Shir 2 predates Challenger 1 and Challenger 1 didn’t have APFSDS when it entered service.
no it didnt mate the chieftain mk10 had APFSDS xD which predates CR1 and shir 2
It’s a “shame” the cold war ended, we could have seen the Mk.13, i.e. a Chieftain upgraded with a new powerpack, FCS, & the L30 from the CR2. I think, project was canned so there’s not much details. Supposedly a single turret exists with the a L30 at bovington in their turret graveyard but honestly I can’t tell the difference between an L11 & an L30 without looking at the breach.

The Challenger 1 entered service in early 1983. L23A1 entered service later in 1983. The Chieftain Mk.10 didn’t enter service until 1986.

It entered service before the CR1 did, hence why the CR1 mk1s fired it.
The tank museum has multiple chats and books on the thing.
L23A1 IS L23.
the mk10 technically is between 1984 and 1986 with totem pole. apologies got dates mixed up slightly.
however the L23A1 was designed to go into service with the CR1 so they were developed together. As far as the imperial war museum sources go the shir 2 could fire the round too.
HOWEVER, if they didnt give it the L23 and dropped it to 9.3 with the L15A5 round that could be quite nice.

It would more than likley have happened if Iran didn’t have a boogaloo and we had the money to upgrade chieftain more before MBT-80
it is a L11 it could fire it but could the FCS be able to range find it and was the ammo stowage able to fit the sabot darts
Also things can be delayed even they were made for something like AAM-4 on the F2 so your point means nothing
the L23A1 round went into service WITH the CR1 mate in 1983 its there on the museums website.
If you also read what i said at the bottom.
That they could theoritically remove the L23 completely, give it L15A5 which is a tungsten cored L15A3 so overall better AP and move it down to 9.3.
Or replace the ingame fake L23, with L15A5, keep the L23 values and change it to the APDS and not the L23 which didnt exist. and is L23A1

The Shir 2 has L15A5 in game and L15A5 has no difference in performance
The L23 in game is based of the prototype L23 rounds that were meant to be part of what Iran got with the Shir 2 but i would like to see it get the other rounds Iran would of got

L23 is l23a1 tbe prototype is the l23a1 round.
They basically trialed it then used it not much changed as far as ive read.
Unless youve got more specific sources for the ammunition as i cant find much.
Believe what you like…the numbers show the l23a1 went into service early 1983 saame as the cr1 did.
Id like to see it as well, id also like to see the other cheiftains get access to more of their rounds too.
It feels a bit bare seeing these tanks missing a lot.
however i seen earlier someone shared a thing that it was slated for hollow charge rounds and such, would be nice to see

Yall already adding more event vehicles yet still haven’t fixed VBCI’s APS which was not only advertized on the dev blog, but is directly modeled onto the vehicle.
Storm Warning (hands down the worst update I’ve seen in my 7+ years of playing) and it’s consequences for this game’s quality of control have been a disaster.
