I think I made it a bit convoluted with my own comment, sorry.
I wanted to make a point about the penguin suddenly coming in with an A2G capability while the GCS-1 for Japan has the same sort of guidance and was just straight denied with zero reliable backing info.
It’s the same situation here but they’re putting one into the game, so why did the other get denied.

Iirc there is a mention by Kongsberg that it can track land targets but to the extent im unsure.
Well. Such things were mentioned by the GCS-1 manufacturer too.

It will more than anything slam into the ground as it`s a seaskimming missile.

And not only the amount of explosive power is an issue, but the fact that it’s simply modelled as a normal HE (or at best SAPHE) warhead, where in reality it has a warhead with mutiple explosively formed projectiles, capable of penetrating several internal bulkheads within the target.
That’s a bit like if one would model an ATGM with a HE warhead instead of shaped charge HEAT warhead and wonders why it doesn’t kill a tank…

Again remove its ground track and this vehicle is essentially no longer unique. Im inclined to wait and see how it performs before i scream on the bug page for GCS but we’ll see, again no real bias, why do Russia and the US get equipment from other models but then other nations get denied that treatment? Is it bias? No, its balance and money bias mainly. Money is a strong bias

Kongsberg NSM which succeeded the Penguin notes its multirole capabilites in numerous places, the Penguin has nothing.
Lets compare this against Kongsberg brochure for the NSM and NSM-AL
A video from the 80s about its integration into the F-16 only notes its anti ship capabilities
There’s an analysis of the acquisition of the Penguin missile for the US, not a single mention of anything but anti ship capabilities
If I submitted a bug report with any of the publicly available brochures or US studies on integration it wouldn’t even make it to the devs, it would be rejected by the mods because everything about it says its a AsM.
I fully support things being historically modeled, I supported the Brimstone being historically modeled and locked to a single mode, so why is the Penguin getting some ahisotrical mode that there is zero evidence it could do?
