Get the F-5A(G) in the Freedom Fighter Event!

imo this plane should be like 11.7 at most, at 12.3 it would be outranged by like most of the planes of the br

and also the current f5c that is in wt is prob one of the most ahistorical planes in the game atm

They may have the same upgrade kit as what is equipped for the Taiwanese F5’s since iirc those also have countermeasures. May just be an upgrade but i dont believe the US mounted flares to them when they exported them. Only the F5E models had them.

After checking Samovar pods are set up specifically as jamming pods, so eventually when we get to EWS this vehicle can mount them, based on info they were part of the program to allow the mounting of Penguins.

@An_Pigeon

The F-5A(G)s underwent upgrades between 84 and 86. These upgrades included an AN/ALE-46 RWR and ALE-38 CM dispensers. The ALE-38 CM dispensers are equal to those on the F-5C.

The version coming to the game is an even later variant, where the cockpit and the avionics were developed closer to the F-16.

Regarding the Samovar and Penguin combo, they were mounted on the aircraft together to provide a better protection suite during the attack.

Ive seen the images, only problem is checking Norwegian sites, my Norwegian is absolutely garbage (if we all spoke Danish it would be simpler lol)

ah so it can’t even guide an air to ground missile from here (no display). I wonder how it will be implemented then…

i haven’t looked much into it yet tough, but to my understanding fire and forget missiles doesn’t require much, fire, and forget, guess it works sort of the spikes

I believe the Penguin can be pre-programmed, but that wouldnt be useful for WT.

The missile itself isnt locked onto the target at launch, but is told where the target is located. This can be done either by radar or designation by the pilot, i believe. The missile is launched, and heads for the designated location. When entering a set distance from the target it activates its seeker head and strikes the ship.

The F-5A(G) is also able to use Bullpups. This compatibility was in fact a specific request from the Norwegians upon purchase of the fighters.

F-5A Kamino Fighter :)

Yeah but You cant see what You are loking at without a display.

Yeah I’m looking foward bullpops on this one, the point Is that gaijin Is trying to sell an aircraft for something It can’t realistically do.

Then they should’ve added the F 35 since they wanna sell this thing as a CAS fighter, or given US the F16 AM from Norway

That could be a better way to add some cas to Sweden.

Danish and Norwegian 5th air line is the only way gaijin could make the swedish air tree worth grinding.

A subtree is not a subtree without a subtree :p

me: sees event vehicle in Swedish TT :D
Also me: knowing I won’t be able to grind the event checks bank account

Id hold your money until we see its armament and BR. As it stands rn if its higher than 11.7 its worthless, if it cant have decent CAS at a reasonable BR then its also useless

yeah, that’s the plan for now I spose.
really hope it isn’t a gimmick because it would be cool.
in the meantime I guess I should resume the grind (have been taking a break for a while) so that I can get a lineup that is even remotely usable with it for GRB
and also resume air TT grind so I can have maximum grind efficiency with it

Until gaijin can confirm if it can be used for CAS and that it wont lose its AT function this vehicle seems pretty much DOA for me. If its 11.3 by some chance i might play it. 11.7 will basically make it only useful in a downtier since you’re a worse Mirage F1C but with 1 less missiles.
