As of recently there has come to my attention the ammunitions that could be added for the future of war thunder, and i tought it would be a good idea to have a discussion talking about possible additions for the future aswell as serving as a repository of information, the idea is to share the info and keep the suggestion for a possible future addition at the moment we have.

Rheinmetall patent drawing showing a 754 mm long penetrator optimized to defeat ERA
KE2020NEO history
Rheinmetall has not disclosed the exact specifications of the KE 2020 Neo, but aims for a 20% increase in performance. According to a 2017 report from the Polish publication ZBiAM, Rheinmetall was developing prototype APFSDS rounds featuring a 760 mm long penetrator, compared to approximately 680 mm for the DM63. These prototypes weigh about 10 kilograms including the sabot, making them around 1.25 kilograms heavier than the DM63 round with its sabot. Due to the increased weight, the muzzle velocity is reduced to approximately 1,670 m/s when fired from the L/55A1 gun. To counter this, Rheinmetall explored measures to reduce sabot weight by 1.1 to 1.3 kilograms, potentially increasing muzzle velocity by 110 to 130 m/s. Additionally, Rheinmetall investigated more complex, non-homogeneous penetrator designs. Over recent years, Rheinmetall has patented several methods to enhance penetrator performance, such as increasing length, improving armor-piercing capabilities, or enhancing after-armor effects. These innovations include penetrators with variable diameters, designed breaking points, interchangeable tips to optimize against specific threats, and composite penetrators incorporating materials like tungsten carbide.
