Z52 is alright. Lütjens is straight up superior for AA support due to rapid fire VTF available primaries and missiles.
Although the Z52 is both a smaller and more maneuverable target.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I hope to unlock it soon. I’ve just played a few matches with the Z52 and it’s a beast at its level.
I’d almost argue Z51 is superior due to the cracked out Base fuse HE but germany in general is pretty solid overall.
German battleships tend to lack penetration but have the fastest firerate of any nation. Westfalen is an unkillable brick for surface action but this comes at the caveat of poor performing, low penetration AP, no speed nor AA.
It’s in that weird BR of blatantly overpowered in a downtier but borderline worthless up tiered. At least it can resist some 7.0 shells
does anyone have a side photo of one of scarnhorsts or gniesnaus barbettes that shows the width allowing the future imporvement of the guns from 283mm to 380mm ?
As far as I know; this never got past initial planning before realizing it wasn’t worth it so I’m not sure if any artist interpretation exists
made a poll
That’s true; I split my main ammo load and carry some for air threats, whenever enemies have tried to launch revenge bombing runs, whether dive bombing or torpedo attacks, the Z52 simply spits out its AA fire and quickly shoots them down, overall, I’m happy with this destroyer; it’s like having the Z46 and Z47 rolled into one, but slightly more powerful, I’ve also taken it into top tier matches and generally done well, though sinking battleships requires a lot of caution, strategy, and skill; On the other hand, the Westfalen is a solid ship against other vessels but is very vulnerable to air attacks, by the way, has anyone had much success bombing with incendiary bombs?
Only works on stationary targets and doesn’t kill crew fast enough regardless.
letting yall know about the historical skin i got passed for bismarck as a tree skin
The Tirpitz and ideally the H-39 is definitely needed. No idea what the H-39 should be called though. Whether to just call it H-39 or something like Ersatz Bismarck (Replacement Bismarck). I’d also like to see Blücher added as either an event vessel or a vessel to replace Admiral Hipper’s slot and have Admiral Hipper foldered under it (Blücher was sunk early on, Prinz Eugen and Admiral Hipper lasted to the end of the war).
Its crazy Japan got Musashi before Germany got Tirpitz. It makes japans late game tree insanely overpowered whilst other nations like Germany are underpowered. Currently if you’re a top tier German main playing navel you get absolutely obliterated by Iowa, Yamato and Sovetsky Soyuz. If you manage to take out Iowa US players still have two other ships they can spawn in with an equal BR to Bismarck. The USSR and Great Britain has less secondary options but they still have a better late game tree than Germany. Japan on the other hand is ridiculously OP. If by some miracle you manage to take out Yamato they can just spawn in Musashi… another Yamato class ship. If you manage to take out Musashi too they still have several other 16 inch demons to spawn in or Nagato as a premium which is the same BR as Bismarck.
No.
No they’re not. The only overpowered ship at 8.0+ for japan is Tosa. The A140s are made of glass and can be instantly killed by Bissy from18km away with a tap to turret 2.
Britain, comparatively is one of the worst 7.x nations around and without a doubt the second worst 8.0+ nation. (Prince of Wales has zero penetration and Vanguard is… Vanguard.)
Bismarck has disgustingly good 38s with some of the highest firerate in the game for battleship caliber, only equal to Nagato and beaten by Scharnhorst. Her issue is her armor layout and how the game handles turret and elevator fires.
While Germany does need a bit more than one 8.0+ ship, Bismarck is a menace at close range where shells can skate over the turtle back.
except this is untrue as most 8.3 BBs at close range can pen her turtle back vanguards 38s are identical other than reload if not better due to higher penetration
Depends on the range but Bismarck can eat multiple salvos at 6km from 41cms and not get detonated while broadsiding.
I don’t trust the analysis due to it rarely matching up with in match performance.
I have seen it - from my own perspective - tank multiple 41cm salvos. I remember this because I was a Mutsu and iirc that was a bit before Tusk Force as I was grinding towards Yammy at the time.
Edit
And yes, I was aiming magazines at the time. I just could not hit them at 6km. Why? I don’t know. I do know I got sent to the respawn screen because of being third partied by a Soyuz.
All i know is the only ships that every one shot me in Bismarck are Iowa, Sovetsky Soyuz and the Yamatos
They definitely can.
A lot of ships in general can but if Bismarck is close enough, armor silliness tends to happen and she becomes deceptively durable.
The problem is at range, Bismarck is exceptionally vulnerable.
ive been ammoracked numerous times through main belt at close range by 16inches from south dakota which has similar performance to the 41CM of Mutsu and other 41 ships from my experince it happens
its only good in close range against lower ships like 8.0
other than that you should just camp behind a island
it can very easily happen and unlike every other ship in game its immediate death not like south dakota who can be ammo racked in every turret and live literally a cutscene death
unlike every other 8.3 ship you also cant angle it due to zero bow armor its literally one of the most hopeless ships ever as you constantly face south dakotas and iowas and soyuz
I have the same expirence the ship it self makes a lot of fun it just sitz in the wrong Environment :(
Or its just to late to the party for it to be one of the top 8.3 Ships.
This isn’t completely true; the bow plate is mostly fine, the magazine protector plate is absolutely abysmal - But this is a thing for most of the german BBs in general so it might as well be the exact same thing.
At least Bismarck doesn’t suffer like the Littorios who have a third of the firerate. Not that they should.
7.3s can kill her just as easily as 8.7s at range. I’ve legit survived longer at close range broadsiding than angling.
I am, however, in agreement that she does need a bit more survivability.
