Hi, I’ve always liked the inscription decals and I’d like to see more of them.
I stumbled across this one, which I liked the curved shape and wording of.
“Ich schmeiss mein Geld weg!” is German for “I’m throwing my money away!”
It was painted on a Bf 109 from the JG 2 “Richthofen” Wing (hence the R insignia). The plane flew in the Battle of Britain in 1940 and from what I’ve been able to find it belonged to a Karl Ebert of 8/JG2 (Staffel 8, Jagdgeschwader 2).
I do not know what the fate of the pilot or the plane was. Apart from the video linked below I have not found any other photos of this inscription (but I’m sure they exist in some archive).
