Itโs a lighter, cheaper Phantom equipped with the Agile Eagle package, and it was actually a solid aircraft when it was first introduced. However, with the addition of so many modern all-aspect missiles, avoiding them has become increasingly difficult. Youโd know that if youโve played the F-4F Early recently.
You rarely see anyone flying it anymore, whether theyโre on your team or the enemyโs, because itโs become so frustrating to use in the current meta. Adding countermeasures wouldnโt be some controversial buff, itโs simply a quality-of-life improvement. Every German Phantom received countermeasures shortly after entering service, so giving them to the F-4F Early wouldnโt be some F-16AJ problem.
The F-4F would be more balanced, more realistic, and fill a more significant BR hole if it had no AIM-9J and was 10.0.
The F-4F Peace Rhine with AIM-9L would have no need for AIM-9J.
So why do we need it?
How is this copy-paste? Itโs a distinct and historically significant aircraft, the stepping stone to the KWS-LV, and itโs likely to be found at a BR where Germany has no fighters. Itโs only copy-paste in the sense that itโs not a new aircraft family, but thatโs an extremely extreme bar for what constitutes copy-paste.
Would you mind elaborating on this comment? What exactly are you perceiving as an emotional argument? I think Iโve been quite rational- defending my arguments with logical comparisons to similar aircraft.
Falsely claiming that Iโm just asking Gaijin to buff the aircraft I like, and calling me a liar in the process, is confrontational, which is why I responded with an ad hominem.
The suggestions Iโve made are about improving the aircraft by moving forward rather than taking a step backward. A Phantom at 10.0 with only slightly improved AIM-9Bs would be a pretty underwhelming , and I donโt think many people would enjoy playing it, especially those at 9.0 who would have to face it.
Given the backlash WarThunder has received recently, I think most players would rather see something genuinely new than another Phantom that, on paper, doesnโt offer anything particularly exciting. It might be interesting to Phantom enthusiasts like us, and Iโm guessing youโre a fan too, but for everyone else, itโs just another aircraft standing between them and top tier. Thatโs likely to generate more complaints than excitement.
I have a feeling weโre not going to agree on this. From what Iโve seen so far, you seem like the type whoโd rather remove something for the sake of balance, even if it was originally added to balance that vehicle in the first place like an AIM-9J. Iโm pretty much the complete opposite. One more thing, the reason for the two AIM 9Ls for the F-4J is because the stock grind is terrible, and thatโs not hard to understand.
11.3 would be more reasonable for the F-4F with AIM-9Ls because the AJS 37 has to equip both the gun pod and countermeasures, which costs it two missiles. Unfortunately, it also canโt carry AIM-9Ls on the outer pylons because theyโre too heavy, which is pretty annoying.
It already has the Agile Eagle upgrade, and lowering it to 10.0 would create a lot of balancing issues. Gaijin knew this, which is why they chose not to do it and instead gave it AIM-9Js.
i think it would be fine at 10.0 if given AIM-9F, decent boom and zoom and energy dogfighting but missile not too powerful, will provide a decently different experience to mirage, F-1, F-4C and F-8E
Come on, man. These posts are about improving the current state of the Phantom family, yet youโre getting upset with me instead of helping us find ways to improve it. Thatโs disappointing. We all want the game to be better, so letโs focus on discussing the suggestions rather than attacking the person making them. I saw your vote on the British Phantoms too. Come on, man.
