.50 or 40mm Type 96
Yeah, I want Ka-Chi so bad. Tho its only 25% chance. I hate it. Why cant they make it choise if one is buying battlepass only for that very reason? So unfair gaijin.
Sadly even german 15mm AA can pen Chi-Ha kai from front. I really dont see why they put it at 2.3 br.
Type 91 Heavy, the Ro-Go lost brother could be cool to have as researchable vehicle.
My theory is that it is for reloading/access to the turret
Sorry for necroposting, but I thought I’d point out that there are some significant differences between this schematic and the vehicle in real life, which is why I couldn’t really use it in the bug report. The hatches/panels on the top of the turret in the diagram don’t correspond to the real vehicle.
For example, just from the side, you can see the differences between schematic and reality.
If we go left to right, we see:
- The drawing has Type 16-style LFP armor. The real vehicle has flat composite panels instead.
- There is a step between the UFP and infantry compartment on the real vehicle. In the drawing, it’s smooth.
- The positions of smoke grenades and LWS are different.
- The real vehicle has what appears to be an AC unit, the drawing does not.
Chi-Ri’s tray loader is getting some attention on the subreddit. Looks like they made 2 unsourced bug reports. Anybody have actual sources for this?
One of the reports already got closed.
I’m pretty sure it’s been bug-reported before right? But maybe we can push for something now that is properly sourced (copium)
The tray thing we have in game might not be real at all. The turret ammo rack itself was automated, but it’s unclear how and if it had something to feed rounds into the breech. Note how capacity is only 18, while in game it’s 32.
The tray was at least present on images of the cannon.
Maybe that diagram shows a simplified depiction, or there might be a separate mechanism to load shells into the tray from the ammo stowage.
Ther just isn’t anything indicating what the tray does. It’s about the size to fit such round, but that’s it. Could be somehow connected to the bar coming from ammo rack.
I would assume it would function similar to the tray on the Type 3 AA cannon
My best guess is that the loading mechanism loads the tray, so that the shell can be loaded into the breech quickly. But that is only a guess
I’m under the impression the “autoloader” functions similarly to that of the ST-A3’s.
If you look at the bottom image, you can see the bottom left shell with an arrow indicating it’s being rammed forward. I would be quite puzzled why the Chi-Ri doesn’t have a ramming mechanism, but has an automated magazine.
The tray has far more validity than the automatic ammunition rack. The lack of mounting points in the interior photo of the turret rear suggests it was never meant to be mounted by the time they actually got around to testing the second Chi-Ri iteration.
Probably got shot down during development similar to the belt-feeding system for the gun.
If the whole system wasn’t ready yet, there was no hurry to weld mounts for it. The dimensions and positions for possible attachment points on the rack could have changed multiple times along development. There is also the option those mounting points are simply outside the picture and rest of the mount was part of the rack. Either way the rack is already so large that they would have needed to lift the turret off to fit it inside.
The gun wasn’t mounted into the turret either, while it had already went through test firing. That would have been somewhat important to test with the tank to confirm structural integrity. It could be they wanted to first test the gun on a bench with the rack.
If they had already decided to go for a traditional rack, they could have just already build it. However such rack does not appear in any paper as far as I know. Of course this whole iteration of the tank was already practically cancelled, so it is likely they would have not have bothered to finish the rack either. It is interesting how clear shape they have for the thing, but no mentions of it have not survived. I would imagine they had a wooden mockup somewhere.
Well there’s no regular racks there either
I eated them all
