A part of me wants to play the Tan-SAM kai all the time, but another part doesn’t even want to look at it due to all the bugs, inaccuracies etc…
Let me remind you that Tan-SAM kai is from 1995, whopping 23 years older than the IRIS-T SLM that also has 3 to 4 times as much range. And Gaijin, in their infinite wisdom, put them both at 12.0. How have we not gotten a decompression yet is beyond me, IRIS-T SLM is 13.0 while Tan-SAM kai could possibly be 12.3, not any higher. Until Chu-SAM comes, Japan doesn’t have a true top tier AA.

More issue is not that IRIS-T SLM is more modern vehicle but that it is different class SAM. As I know IRIS-T SLM is used only in Air forces for airfields defense when Type 81 (all) is division/brigade class SAM what is used at JGSDF as SAMs for close covering (similar is IRIS-T SLS in Sweden tree) when Type 03 Chu-SAM is used for strategic bases covering and controlled as separate units in Army what makes it more close to SLM
So issue is that they added different SAM classes at the same time. Tbh for more balance all current SAM should be added excluding SLM

Type 81C should be 11.0-11.3 and Tan-Sam stay at 12.0. IRIS-T should go higher.

If BR cap increased to 13.0 (which is at this point overdue), it wouldn’t be so simple. Suddenly, our Type 90 wouldn’t be 11.3, but 12.0 or 12.3. basically every ground vehicle above 6.0 would need to be moved somewhat.
I really wanted the Type 11… Now it’s too late
Time to wait for Type 03
Tbf Type 11 would provide no real benefits over the Tan-SAM kai.

Best thing about Type 03; you don’t have to wait for a full rotation for a scan, as it only Scans the area you point the Radar at, similar to PATRIOT and S-300.

yeah that’s why we should have had it and not a 81c copypaste that uses the wrong chassi for it’s radar vehicle
What do you mean? Both variants of the Isuzu trucks are used, older and newer.
