Since Japan has Patriots, then I might ask here; how good will the Patriot be in game and how long can we expect to wait until it arrives?
probably a bit of an overkill on maps where enemy planes spawn 20 kilometers away from the battlefield
Depends which one exactly we talk about; there is PAC-2, PAC-2 GEM / GEM+, PAC-3 CRI, PAC-3 MSE…
Though, PAC-3 CRI is the probly “easiest to balance”, the Type 03 Kai may be a better option though.
Does anyone have a photo of the Dowa-modified armored cars? Since the old forum got fully nuked, I haven’t been able to find them again. The photograph I’m thinking of is a line of Type 91 “Sumida” and a single Austin model 1918 armored car, both modified with Type 14 37 mm guns on the front of the cabs and the “Sumida” also having a new anti-aircraft turret installed in place of their old one. If I remember correctly, they were modified for the Great Manchurian army rather than the Japanese army.
Finished up a hypothetical backwards extension to the Japanese tech tree. For reference, here are the WW1 American and French versions I have done, and the WW1-interwar German version.
I’ll add the image of the Dowa-modified cars if I can find them. I wasn’t able to find any photographs of the third and final batch of Ha-Go prototypes, the former being the one that was largely identical to the production Ha-Go aside from lacking the turret machine gun and the latter being identical to the production Ha-Go. Since historical photographs are already a bit hard to find, I wasn’t able to figure out which photograph of a 1931 model had the shorter track links that was introduced in 1932 and is the sole difference between the two models. Someone more educated in that topic would probably be able to trace down an image of a model 1932 I-Go. Though, a photograph of the So-To also doesn’t exist at all, to my knowledge.
@BSpiel8-live provided some images of the Dowa-modified Type 93 “Sumida.” He can’t post them himself since he’s being hit by the inactive restriction at the moment.

The modified Austin model 1918 continues to elude me, though I swear it’s real. Though, it only received the Type 14 37 mm gun; I assume because the anti-aircraft turret couldn’t be placed due to the dual-turret setup of the Austin.
@BSpiel8-live found the image of the Austin. I did remember it a bit wrong, though. The car that Dowa modified was actually an Austin-Chiyoda, rather than a regular Austin model 1918. You can see it in the picture behind the Sumida in the foreground, though it’s a bit hard to spot at first glance due to the graininess of the image making the camouflage of the two cars blend together.
A full image of an Austin-Chiyoda, albeit not modified by Dowa, is below to help visualize it better:
According to this site, the base air defense SAM modification under development can carry 16 new near SAMs.
The new near SAMs will have 8 rounds.

I need this
Wouldn’t work in-game aside from an April Fools thing. That’s just a regular Vickers cal. .30. The only reason the Chiyoda and Type 93 are in the tree is because they have anti-aircraft machine guns, which is the same reason that the French tree has the AM Renaults with their machine guns in an anti-aircraft configuration and why the Russian tree would also have the D-12 as their 1.0 SPAA; that being that none of them have options for some car/truck-mounted machine gun like the Americans and Germans do with the Balloon Destroyer (2 x - cal. .30) and the Daimler MG M1914 (1 x - 7.92 mm), respectively.
Well, this won’t do even for 1.0, but there are still a couple similar vehicles:
SR-III Ha-Go, armed with a 13.2mm
SR-III Amphibious Tank - Japan - War Thunder - Official Forum
Or maybe this Thai Universal Carrier with what seems to be a Vickers .50 cal on top
And of course we cannot forget the Type 92 either

A while back I found in a forum that the best bullet the Vickers had could pen 16mm from 50 yards (45 meters). But I can’t refind it. Probably be placed at the lowest possible br vs ww1 tanks. like the 2015 m2a2 back then it had 27mm of pen.
We can technically get a panzer 1a if the mg13 gets the 7.92x57mm Mauser S.m.K.H. (Tungsten Carbide Core) pen should roughly be 19mm or 23mm. Correct me if I’m worng in this one.
I don’t think that would be enough to warrant their introduction. While my standard is only my own, I think any machine gun that isn’t capable of penetrating a Renault FT shouldn’t be added as a primary weapon; excluding SPAA. There are already a few machine gun-only candidates that could be added if the BRs are extended backwards, namely the Ka-Tsu, the SRIII, and the Type 92.
Toreno, a small WT youtuber that does content about vehicles that could be added to the game, just posted a video about WW2 japanese tanks. That are some vehicles that I didn’t even know existed.
I recommend you guys to check it out.
Would definitely make sense, I think a recent conflict involving intense use of drones has sparked alot of nations to start developing new or improved air defence systems.
