This image is a comparison chart of the AAM-4 and other missiles, taken from a presentation document on the development of the AAM-4B. When compared to the AIM-120B, the stand-off ranges are listed as 1.0 and 0.9-, respectively, indicating that the AAM-4 has a better than the AIM-120B.
The “stand-off range” referred to in this document does not refer to the missile’s flight distance, but rather to the distance between the launcher and the target when the missile has locked onto the target with its seeker.
This is where it gets important. The reference materials in this list include military magazines. Japan conducted an evaluation from June to August 2001 and compiled this document. However, prior to that, in March 2001, Japan acquired the AIM-120B and conducted compatibility tests with the host aircraft. This timeline matches the period listed in SIPRI.
In other words, Japan knows more about the performance of the AIM-120B than military magazines do—even without relying on them.
Since we’re comparing missiles, the conditions are the same: altitude, distance from the target at launch, speed, weather, etc. — everything. Based on these factors, the difference in stand-off range figures shows that the AAM-4 has a higher speed than the AIM-120B.

I’m a bit lost, the JSI term was thrown around for years and never went anywhere. Is this now confirmed that they will be upgraded and to what specs?

The JSI are not upgraded F-15J’s they are going to be completely new aircraft. This mentions that the current F-15J/DJ’s will be upgraded comparable to the JSI.

Round itself is modified 40mm Type 2 rifle grenade which was made from Germany rifle grenade launcher. Penetration was around 60mm
So yes, it is direct analogue to well known PTABs or other cluster HEAT bombs but for Japanese planes. IJNAF also had analogue to this type of bomb

I checked on Live and currently even the low capacity APHE shell (104g filler) is somehow overpressuring lol
they might be fixing that

The question is exactly which projectile they’ll be swapping—the one with 104g of TNT or the one with 460g of TNT.
Hopefully this change is only for the 104g shell. They also removed overpressure from P.108’s 102mm cannon, which had like 80g filler.
So I decided I was in the mood for the F-16A OCU, thinking it’s 13.3.
IT IS 13.7??? In what universe does that make sense?
Another thing: F-15J and F-16AJ are both 12.7, despite F-15J being better in almost every aspect, it even has IR missiles with IRCCM, unlike the F-16. Just why.
