General Japanese & JASDF General Discussion

What is that pod? Doesn’t seem like for ground targeting because it doesn’t bring any air to ground munition

J/AAQ-2 NAVFLIR. The only targeting pod it should have is the Sniper ATP.

We’ve to wait for the Dev Server anyway, until we can actually report anything.

Kinda looks like the FLIR navigation pod?

Separate radar vehicle for type81 is interesting. Wonder how that’ll work

The IRIS-T SLM Devblog already explains how Multi-Vehicle Systems will work;

Cool

shouldn’t it be the 81C Kai the radar version?
it still have the glass one though…

I can imagine a name change (considering there its coming as seperate “vehicle”), but the Type 81 (C) itself is already called Tan-SAM Kai.

Maybe they can call it “Type 81 (C) (ARH)” or smth like that.

So is there any chance the Type 81 will having the LOAL capability?

it can operate independantly away from the radar (IR)

only ARH needs radar + can operate from datalink via plane

that’s what i am talking about
it is shown type 81c with an IR missile as well as the radar vehicle side by side
unless they gave it radar slaving i don’t think it should have glass dome missile

I saw on the leak it’ll have ARH missile too

i mean the ARH already in the file since the Type 81(C) introduced, so leak is not surprising.
what i am confused is why they are showing the IR seeker instead of the radar seeker one on the trailer.

It is, the missile has two different seeker types. The lightwave seeker (optical imaging with backup IR, same as in game and teaser) and the radar seeker (PESA ARH, in the files and hopefully next update)

It doesn’t, it can also launch on IOG input from the sight device on the launcher. The radar is only needed for datalink.

Ooooo

Lightwave missile should have this function too, so it would be really interesting to see
