I have only a dedicated keybind on the keyboard and on the throttle for those functions.
But everytime i have the HOTAS connected and i press the ESC key during battle they deploy and rip.
Mildly annoying while doing SIM air battles.
Any tips on what can be wrong?

Yep, and it also happens if you activate the map screens, which is hell when you have the gear on a toggle switch.
Edit: It basically happens everytime there is an overlay activated, so it seems that upon opening any kind of overlay/Menu, it will override it’s old state and toggle the gear.
I use exclusively the thrustmaster hotas with SFC and instructor off - in Air RB.
Imho the easiest solution is to copy your current profile, rename the new (“SIM”) and set the function “flap or geat deployment” different, i use my coolie hat for flaps on/off, gear up/down, air brake on/off and backward view…
Maybe not a solution, but a workaround…
