Yeah these planes will give you almost no help playing the F5 or the battle rating of air to air missiles. The game play is chalk and cheese mate

Hey @LLKusanagi I have some suggestions for any left over GE you may or may not have.

Put it a tailsmen so you can use it to grind grind out the rest of the TT easier. It will give you premium level RP bonuses, but not SL. So you will have to watch your SL balance.

Put it into crew skill. If your just starting the Japanese TT you’ll probably have low skill level for your crew slots, so putting left over GE into the crew slots will help so much.

Umm idk how much it is for the FCU. They change with the rank. They are generally pretty expensive though so it’s probably best to wait until they go on sale. But then again squadron vehicles normally don’t go on sale, so I don’t know if their tailsmen will go on sale. I’m about to hope on and check, I’ll edit this comment with how much
my current plan is that if i don’t get a refund, i’ll talisman a prop and grind until Rank V/VI until I can use the FCU, then I’ll likely get another talisman and finish the rest… are they particularly cheap for props?
Edit: either until rank V or VI if the penalty for Rank V is miniscule
Welp, A talisman for the FCU is 3K GE and a talisman for a Zero at Rank IV is 1400 GE…

Oh dang. Well looking at those prices I’d just recommend not buying a tailsmen. Just buy a rank 3 or 4 prem aircraft to get to rank 4/5. But just wait for a sale. There should be one coming up

Sadly, that won’t help you: The talisman will let you gain more RP and SL, but there is still the rank-penalty, so researching low tier aircraft with the Thaiger will let you gain very little.
Still, if you don’t let yourself be discouraged because of the grinding, the F-5E FCU is a very fun to fly plane, and with 4x all aspect IR missiles and very good RWR very potent, especially in Sim EC!
The radar is very bad though, and especially lacks IFF so situational awareness and careful ID of contacts is crucial…
A squadron vehicle buying for GEs is probably the worst way to Spend your GEs

I really like the FCU in Sim EC, and it’s one of my most effective fighters there (I’m more of a mud-mover usually).
The challenge is really finding the enemy (RWR helps ere a lot), then sneaking up to it and engage it. But that’s also very rewarding and a lot of fun.
I most of the time fly with radar off, and only quickly turn it on for a few seconds to e.g. get a general picture or estimate distances. Most of the time sneaky is the way to go…
Yeah its good but Never worth 50 Bucks. because you have no premium Features and for Double rp you still Need to buy a talisman
